RESOLUTION DECLARING INTENTION OF THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON
BEACH NOT TO PERK&IT OIL DRILLING UPON
CERTAIN PROTIONS OF TIDELANDS "WITHIN
THE CITY.
Be it resolved by the City Council of the City
of Huntington Beach:
HEREAS, it is anticipated that the Governor of
the State of California will sign Assembly Bill ##4, of the
1931 session of the Legislature of the State of California,
which Bill grants to the City of Huntington Beach, the
tidelands within its boundaries, and
17HEREAS, said Bill permits the drilling of oil
wells by the City of Huntington Beach upon those tidelands,
and
`r�EREAS, approximately two (2) miles of the Ocean
front within the City of Huntington Beach in devoted ex-
elusively to recreational and playground purposes, and
MEAS, the City of Huntington Beach is d esir-
ous of ;protecting the recreational beaches within its boun-
daries for recreational purposes, and
"s'HEREAS, there is now in existence an Ordinance
of the City of Huntington Beach prohibiting the drilling of
oil wells upon the tidelands immediately ad,jacer to said
recreational beaches,

NOW, THER-t:FORE, IT IS RESOLVED, by the City
Council of the City of Huntington Beach, that it is their
intention never to permit, cause nor allow, any oil wells
to be drilled unon any tidelands within the City of Hun-
tington Beach, adjacent to said recreational beaches, which
are hereby defined as extending from 10th Street in said
City to the Easterly boundary line of the City of Hunting-
ton Beach.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the
City of Huntington Beach, at their regular adjourned meet-
ing, held on the 15th day of June, 1931.
