HU*r'TIUGTOII BEACH, CALIFORNIA, PROTESTING THE ACTION OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL IN BRINGING AN ACTION AGAINST T,',,',E CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AND VARIOUS OIL 0"ERATORS" . The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach do resolve as follows : WHEREAS the Chamber of Commerce of the City of Huntington Beach have passed and adopted a certain Resolution on the 14th day of September, 1933, in words and figures as follows, to-wit if RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION OF THE CHAI,,ABER OF COMMERCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIFORNIA, PROTESTING THE ACTION OF THE ATTORNEY GEN- ERAL IN BRINGING All ACTION AGAINST THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AND VARIOUS OIL OPERATORS. The Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce of the City of Huntington Beach, California, do resolve as follows : WHEREAS, the State of California has instituted action against oil operators, the City of Huntington Beach, et al, to enjoin oil operators from further activity in Huntington Beach, the effect of which will be to throw out of employment not less than three thousand men now employed in the development work and an additional two thousand men in supplemental industries, taking away the present support of at least twenty thousand persons, and t'TIIEREAS the cessation of this work will defeat in this district the object of our President in his program of National recovery, and WHEREAS, the position of the State is open to serious criticism, NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that the : Chamber of Commerce of the City of Huntington Beach go on record as vigorously opposing and condemning any and all actions by the State Attorney General that decrease employment, and especially the present action above referred to. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Reso- lution be sent to Harold Ickes, Secretary of the Interior and Oil Dictator, Hugh S. Johnson, N.R.A. Administrator and to John B. Elliott, all at -Washington, D. C. Also, a copy to U. S. Webb, Attorney General of the State of California, and to the Governor of the State of California. Passed and adopted unanimously by the by the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce of Huntington Beach, California. T. B. Talbert President. Attest: 11ay S. Jackson Secretary. NOVI THEREFORE be it resolved that the City Council -2- of the City of Huntington Beach do hereby endorse and approve said Resolution.
