A. RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HU TINGTON BEACH C MITIG A SPECIAL ELECTION
TO SUBMIT TO A VOTE OF THE ELECTORS AN OIIDI14AI40E
DECLARING THAT THE OFFICES OF CITY JUDGE AND
CITY ATTOMMY SHALL HEREAFTER BE CTIM
The City Counoil of the City of Huntington Beach de
resolve as follows$
Section 1, 'S at; a special election shall be held on

to the electors of said City of Huntington Beach the proposition
of the adoption of an ordinance providing that the offices of
city judge and city attorney shall be elective, which ordiruknoo
is hereinafter set out In full and designated as *An Ordinanoo
of the City of H=tIngt€n Beach Declaring That The Office of
City Fudge and City Attorney Shall be Elective

*AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH
DECLARING THAT THE OFFICES OF CITY JUDGE AND
CITY AITTOR= BOLL BE EIZECTIVE.
*The People of the City of Huntington Beach do ordain as follows
"SqgU.a4 That the 'office of City Judge and the offIo& of City
Attorney abal1 hereafter be elective, and said officers she.11 be
elooted from the City at large for the term provided in section
17 of Article VII of the Charter of the City of Huntington Beach,,
California,. The City Council shall set the oompen:sation of said
officers at not less than the amount paid slid officers during the
preceding, year.
*Section 2: If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase f this ordinance is for any reason held to be unccnst
tutional,, such decision shall not affect the validity of the
remaining portions of this ordinance. The People of the City of
Huntington Beach hereby declare that they would have passed this
ordinance and each section, subsection, sentence, clause and
phrase hereof Irrespective of the Pact that any one or more
sections, subsections,, sentenoos, clauses or pYarases hereof be
declared unconstitutional.

shall be elected at a special election held within the time
provided for by law.

Section 2 That at said special election there shall b
four (4) voting precincts consisting of a consolidation of the
regular election precincts last established for holding general
state or county elections as fall. ,, st 1.
Consolidated voting precinct 14A", comprising State and
County election precincts numbers Huntington peach One and
and the polling place thereof shall be in the Memorial Hall
located an Sixth Street near the intersection of Uafrnolia Avenue
and. Sixth Street in said City.
Consolidated voting precinct OB'", comprising State and;
County election precincts numbers Huntington Beach Tyree .and Four,
and the polling place thereof shall be at the Woman0s aub located
on 10th Street between Orange avenue and Magnolia Avenue.
Consolidated voting precinct , comprising State and
County election, precinets numbers Huntington Beach. Five and Six,
and the polling place thereof shal be the Windsor Club House
on Thirteenth Street' between Crest Avenue and Mein Street.
Consolidated voting precinct *D#, comprising State and
County election precincts gibers Huntington Beach Seven and
Eight, and the polling place thereof shall be Mat3gie 1�allicyls
Store on the corner of Frankfort Street and Alabama Aver.
Section 3 s That the palls shall be open between the
hours of 6300 c#clock A M. and 7 **clock k P.M.

Section 52 That each of said officers above mentioned is
an elector and a resident of the consolidated voting precinct for
which he or she is appointed.
Section 6: Said election officers shall each receive as
compensation for their services in 'serving upon said election
board the sum of Five ( j.oo) Dollars.
Section 7 Said .el.ecti:on shall in all respects be conducted
as provided by lair.
Section 8 The City Council shall meet on Monday, the 9th
dam' of August;, 1937, following, said election for the purpose of
canvassing the returns thereof.
Section 91 That the City Clerk is hereby directed and
Instructed to publish said proposed ordinance in the Huntington;
Beach evs, a newspaper of genet circulation printed and pub.
lished in the City of Huntington Beach, on the 17th day" of
June, 1937.
Section 101 That said ordinance of the City of Huntington
Beach Is hereto annexed and made a part hereof and 3s designated

special election held August 3rd, 193 ' under the following
