3 RESOLUTION 'CONDEMING ASSEMBLY BILL

5 WHEREAS, there is pending before the present State
6 Legislature a bill known as Assembly Bill No. 1368, Intro-
7 duced by Assemblyman Williamson and Cannon; and
8, WHEREAS, the provisions of this bill which would
9 regulate the operation and administration of public libraries,
10 would add to the costs of maintaining them in the smaller com-
11 munities and would in other ways be detrimental to the best
12 interests of cities such as Huntington Beach.
13 THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Huntington Beach
14 City Council that we oppose the enactment of this legislation
15 by every legitimate means and especially appeal to our Senator
16 and Assemblyman to vote against it.
17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution
18 be mailed to senator Westover and Assemblymen Kuchel and. Watadn�,
19 PASSED AND ADOPTED BY the Council of the City of Hunt«
20 ington Beach at a ,meeting thereof held on the 3rd day of April
21 1939 by the following vote;
22 AYES; Morehouse,, Chamness, Talbert, Henriekson.
23 NOES% None
24 ABSENT; McsCallen.
