A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIFORNIA, CANVASSING
THE RETURNS OF THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
HELD IN SAID CITY ON WEDNESDAY., THE 27th DAY
OF SEPTEMBER, 1939.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach, California, did at a regular meeting
of said City Council held on the 7th day of August, 1939,
adopt Ordinance No. 429, ordering, calling and providing
for the holding of a special election on September 27,
1939, for the purpose of voting upon the authorization
of bonds for the purposes hereinafter stated, and
WHEREAS, due notice of the holding of said
special election has heretofore been given at the time
and in the manner provided by law, and
WHEREAS, this is the time and place provided
for the canvassing of the returns of said special election,
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of, the City of
Huntington Beach, California, do resolve, determine and
declare as follows:
Section 1: (1) That the whole number of votes
cast in the City of Huntington Beach at said special
election, including all absentee votes, is

designated as "PROPOSITION 1. 0, voted upon at said
special election was the following:
"SHALL THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH,
CALIFORNIA, INCUR A BONDED DEBT OF
265,000.009 SUCH DEBT TO BEAR IN-
TEREST AT THE RATE OF NOT TO EXCEED
FIVE PER CENT PER ANNUM, PAYABLE
SEMIANNUALLY, FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE
ACQUISITION, CONSTRUCTION AND C£ -
PLETION BY THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON
BEACH, CALIFORNIA, OF THE FOLLOWING
MUNICIPAL IMPROVEMENT, TO WIT: THE
ACQUISITION, CONSTRUCTION AND COMPLE-
TION OF MUNICIPAL WATERWORKS FOR THE
PURPOSE OF SUPPLYING WATER TO SAID
CITY, INCLUDING THE ACQUISITION OF
WATER, WATER RIGHTS, RIGHTS OF WAY,
AND THE ACQUISITION OR CONSTRUCTION
AND COMPLETION OF RESERVOIRS, PUMP-
ING PLANTS, WATER MAINS, LINES,
EQUIPMENT, APPARATUS, AND APPURTE-
NANCES AS MAY BE NECESSARY OR CON-
VENIENT IN CONNECTION THEREWITH?"
(3) That the number of votes
given at each consolidated voting precinct for and
against said Proposition 1 was as follows:

Section 2: IT IS HEREBY FOUND AND DECLARED that
said Proposition 1, hereinabove recited, to-wit:

received the affirmative votes of less than two-thirds
of the voters of said City voting at said election,
and the same was defeated.

Section 3: The Cite Clerk is hereby directed
to enter on the records of the City Council a statement.
of the result of said election as required by law.
Section 4 That the City Clerk shall attest
and certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution
by a majority of the votes of the members of the City
Council of the City of Huntington Beach.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the
City of Huntington Beach, California, by a vote of more
than a majority of all its members, at a regular meeting
of said City Council held on the 2nd day of Ccto'ber, 1939.

acting City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach and
exofficto clerk of the City Council of said City of
Huntington Beach, do hereby certify that the whole number

Beach is five; that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the affirmative vote of more than a
majority of all the members of said City Council at a
regular meeting of the City Council held on the 2nd day
