RESOLUTION NO. 854 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIFORNIA, CANVASSING THE RETURNS OF THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, THE 21st DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1939. WHEREAS, the Cite Council of the City of Huntington Beach, California, did at a regular meeting of said City Council held on the 2nd day of October, 1939., adopt Resolution No. 852, ordering, calling and providing for the holding of a special election on November 21, 1939, for the purpose of voting upon the proposition of adoption of a proposed amendment to the Charter of said City of Huntington Beach for the pur- pose hereinafter stated, and WHEREAS, due notice of the holding of said special election has heretofore been given at the time and in the manner provided by law, and WHEREAS, this is the time and place provided for the canvassing of the returns of said special elec- tion, NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach, California, do resolve, determine and declare as follows: Section 1: (1) That the whole number of votes cast in the City of Huntington Beach at said special election, including all absentee votes, is 290. R.eso. 854 (2) That the proposition, designated as "PR©POSITIOK, NO. I", voted upon at said special election was the following: "SHALL THE PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENT CREATING A BOARD OF EDUCATION TO CONSIST OF FIVE (5) MEMBERS BE ADOPTED? " (3) That the_. number of votes given at each consolidated voting precinct for and against said Proposition No. I was as follows: Proposition No. I Proposition No. I Yes No Consolidated Voting Precinct A. 44 10 Consolidated Voting Precinct B. 48 5 Consolidated Voting Precinct C. 97 8 Consolidated Voting Precinct D. 63 14 .Absentee Vote. 1 4 (4) That the total number of votes given in the City for and against said Proposition No. I hereinbefore recited, including absentee votes, were as follows: PROPOSITION NO. I Yes 253 PROPOSITION NO. I No 37 -2- Reso. 854 Section 2: IT IS HEREBY FOUND AND DECLARED that said Proposition No. I, hereinabove recited, to-wit: "SHALL THE PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENT CREATING A BOARD OF EDUCATION TO CONSIST OF FIVE (5) MEMBERS BE ADOPTED? received the affirmative votes of a majority of the voters of said City voting at said election, and the same carried. Section 3: The City Clerk is hereby directed to enter on the records of the City Council a statement of the result of said election as required by lair. Section 4: That the City Clerk shall attest and certify to the passage and adoption of this Resol- ution by a majority of the votes of the members of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach, California, by a vote of more than a majority of all its members, at a regularly ad Journed meeting of said City Co cil held on the 27th day of November, 1939.
