HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 1148 RESOLUTION NO. 3148 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH REQUESTING THE' STATE DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS TO RECONSIDER THE MATTE OF TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNALS ON OCEAN AVENUE. . Whereas, the City of Huntington Beach has heretofore requested the State Divisions of Highways for traffic control signals on U. S . Highway 101 within the city limits of Huntington Beach, and no action has been taken thereon; and Whereas, in the year 1950 there were seven traffic deaths on said highway within the city limits of the City of Huntington Beach; and Whereas, the traffic on said highway is increasing and will become a greater hazard to the safety of life and property unless said traffic is adequately controlled by proper traffic control signals; and Whereas, the City Council firmly believes that the installation of adequate traffic control signals is necessary to reduce the hazards on said highway, to reduce the number of traffic accidents, and to contribute to the general welfare and safety of life and property: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that the State Division of Highways be requested to reconsider the matter of traffic control signals on U. S. Highway 101 within the city limits of the City of Huntington Beach; that a survey be made, and that Resi l4a Adequate traffic control signals be installed to control the traffic on said highway within the city limits. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and he is hereby directed to forward to the State Division of Highways a certified copy of this resolution.
