A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON
BEACH ESTABLISHING THE GENERAL PREVAIL-
ING RATE OF HOURLY WAGES FOR EACH CRAFT
OR TYPE OF WORKMAN OR MECHANIC NEEDED IN
THE RESURFACING OF WALNUT AVENUE FROM
FOURTEENTH STREET TO SEVENTEENTH STREET;
OLIVE AVENUE FROM SEVENTEENTH STREET TO
TWENTY-THIRD STREET; PALM AVENUE FROM
MAIN STREET TO SEVENTEENTH STREET; ALA-
BAMA AVENUE FROM ATLANTA AVENUE TO
INDIANAPOLIS STREET, IN THE CITY OF
• HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIFORNIA.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington
Beach has conducted a hearing for the purpose of establishing
the general prevailing rate of hourly wages in this locality
for workmen needed in the resurfacing of Walnut Avenue from
Fourteenth Street to Seventeenth Street; Olive Avenue from
Seventeenth Street to Twenty-Third Street; Palm Avenue from
Main Street to Seventeenth Street; and Alabama Avenue from
Atlanta Street to Indianapolis Street in the City of Hunting"
ton Beach, and has considered evidence presented.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby find, establish
. and determine that the general prevailing rate of hourly
gages in this locality for workmen needed in the resurfacing
of portions of Walnut Avenue, Olive Avenue, Palm Avenue and
Alabama Avenue, within the City of Huntington Beach and the
general prevailing rate of legal holiday and overtime work,
is as follows:

OVERTIME RATES
CARPENTERS M Double time for all overtime, except for
Pile Driver Men, Bridge or Dock Carpenters
on tide work.
CEMENT FINISHERS «- Time and one-half for the first three
hours after the regularly constituted straight
time shift, and all other overtime shall be
double• time.
WATCHMEN - Time and one-half for all time worked in excess
of eight (8) hours per day and for the sixth
lid consecutive day worked; and double time for

the seventh consecutive day worked. Watchmen
shall also receive time and one-half for
holidays except where a holiday falls on the
seventh consecutive day worked, which shall
be double time.
LABORERS Time and one-half except Sundays and Holidays
which are double time.
OPERATING ENGINEERS .► Time and one«half for all overtime
except Sundays and Holidays which are double
time, Where Operating Engineers, during any
one calendar day, are working overtime on the
same unit of a project on: which another craft
is working overtime at the double time rate,
then the Operating Engineers on such unit of
work shall also be paid at the double time rate.
A unit of the project means any single building,
facility, utility, or any other single structure
which is independent of any other unit of the
project.
The operation of a crushing plant for stock
pile and the servicing, repairing, and main-
tenance of equipment on a project shall be
at time and ones-half, except in the following
two instances
1. Sundays and Holidays.
2. Where the equipment operator is repairing
his equipment on a unit of the project
where double time is being paid in that

calendar day.
When the Operating Engineer is working on a
project as an integral part of a crew where
another craft is receiving overtime pay by
virtue of a holiday not specified in the
Master Labor Agreement, then the Operating
Engineer shall receive the same overtime rate
as the other craft.
The rates per hour, indicated above are based upon the
local prevailing rates per day being eight times the above
scheduled rate per hour. Hourly rates of pay, based upon
eight hours per day for a full day or a fractional part of
a day. The per diem wages for a fractional part of a day
shall be the applicable rate per hour multiplied by the num-
ber of hours worked on said day other than for overtime and/or
Sundays or Legal Holidays.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach, California, at a regular meeting thereof
held on the 18th day of February, 1952.

Resolution was passed and adopted by the affirmative vote
of more than a majority of all the members of said City
Council at a regular meeting thereof held on the 18th day
