A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HUNTINGTON BEACH FOR INtMEDIATE ACTION TO
BE TAKEN BY THE PACIFIC ELECTRIC RAILWAY
COMPANY AND THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COF2,USSION
TO REMOVE THE TRACKS OF THE PACIFIC ELECTRIC
RAILWAY NOW EXISTING ALONG THE SHORELINE,
PARTICULARLY THE SECTIONS KNOWN AS BOLSA CHICA
BEACH, HUNTINGTON BEACH MUNICIPAL BEACH, AND
THE HUNTINGTON BEACH STATE PARK.
WHEREAS, the public beaches of Orange County are one of
the most valuable recreational areas of our county, and
WHEREAS, to properly develop public beach areas it is
necessary to plan with vision to bring about the desired re-
sults, and
WHEREAS, it is not possible to fully develop and utilize
the Bolsa Chica Beach, the Huntington Beach Municipal Beach,
the Huntington Beach State Park as long as certain tracks of the
Pacific Electric Railway continue to exist in their present loca-
tions, and,
WHEREAS, the particular tracks of the Pacific Electric
Railway have now for several years eliminated passenger service ,
and,
WHEREAS, freight service can adequately serve this area from
.� their lines running North and South from Los Angeles to Hunting-
ton Beach via Stanton, and,
WHEREAS, these tracks can be abandoned without loss or
damage to the service now being rendered by the Pacific Electric
Railway to the Huntington Beach area.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council, that
immediate action be taken by the Pacific Electric Railway Co.

and the Public Utilities Commission to remove the tracks or the Pacific Electric Railway now existing along the shoreline, par-
ticularly the sections known as Bolsa Chica Beach, Huntington
Beach Municipal Beach, and the Huntington Beach State Park, and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution
be sent to the Pacific Electric Railway Company and the Public
Utilities Commission.

Huntington Beach , California, at a regular meeting thereof held
on the 21st day of March, 1955-
