A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH EXPRESS-
ING ITS OPPOSITION TO ASSEYMLY BILL
NO. 3762.
WHEREAS, numerous coastal cities within the State of
California are the sole owners of some tide and submerged
lands within their respective corporate boundaries, which
ownership has been confirmed numerous times by the Supreme
Court of this State, and
WHEREAS, revenues derived from such tide and sub-
merged lands have also been judicially declared to be an
integral part thereof, and
WHEREAS, improvements and benefits enjoyed by these
cities as a result of derived revenues directly accrue to
counties in the form of increased trade , and
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill No. 3762, now pending in the
40 current session of the Legislature purports to take away from
one of these coastal cities the revenues derived from oil
production on its own tidelands, and
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill No. 3762 would, if enacted, con-
stitute a grievous breach of faith of the part of the State and

would constitute a grave danger to the economic stability of
every coastal city in California owning tidelands.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach expresses its vigorous opposi-
tion to Assembly Bill No. 3762, and that a copy of this Resolu-
tion be immediately forwarded by the City Clerk of the City of

Huntington Beach to the Hon. John Murdy, Senator from Orange
County, to the Hon. Earl W. Stanley, Assemblyman from the
Seventy-fourth District and to the Hon. LeRoy R. Lyon, Jr. ,
Assemblyman from the Seventy-fifth District, at the State
Capitol Building, in Sacramento, California
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach , California, at a regular meeting thereof
• held on the 4th day of April, 1955.
