A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH REQUEST-
ING A GRANT FROM HIGMAY USERS TA
FUND FOR THE RESURFACING OF CLAY
STREET
WHEREAS, Section 2150 of the Streets and Highways
Code of the State of California grants authorization to
Counties, under certain conditions, to expend funds ap-
portioned out of the California Highway Users Tax Fund
to aid in the construction or improvement of streets
within cities that are determined to be in the general
County interest; and
ki EREAS, the City of Huntington Beach desires that
Clay Street from Goldenwest Avenue to Hampshire Avenue ,
(also known as Highway 39) , be paved with paving twenty-
four feet in width, the southerly one-half of which
paving would be within the limits of the City of Hunting-
ton Beach, a municipal corporation in Orange County,
California, and the northerly half of which paving would
be in unincorporated territory in the County of Orange ,

AREAS, the City desires that said reconstruction
and improving of said street be done by the County of
Orange under an Agreement with the City of Huntington
Beach and that the City of Huntington Beach reimburse
the County of Orange for its share of said reconstruction
and improvement;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of
Huntington Beach hereby requests the County of Orange
for a grant of aid out of said County' s apportionment
of the Highway Users Tax Fund in the amount of Eight

Thousand Nine Hundred Ninety Dollars ( 8,990.00) to be
allocated to the City' s portion of the cost in recon-
structingand paving with a pavement twenty-four feet

wide , Clay Street from Goldenwest Avenue to Hampshire
Avenue (also known as Highway 39) , the southerly half
of said paving to be mainly within the city limits of
the City of Huntington Beach, a municipal corporation,
and the northerly half of said pavement being within
unincorporated County territory; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Clay Street is a major
street running east and west and is of county wide bene-
fit since it is the primary street serving said gener-
al area in an east and west direction and is an area
which will be increasingly used for traffic moving
from east to west; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said street is pres-
ently in a state of disrepair and reconstruction and
improvement with said twenty-four foot pavement is need-
ed in order for the efficient handling of the traffic
in the area; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED -he said reconstruction

and improvement be done by the County at an estimated
cost of Forty Five Thousand Dollars ( 45,000.00) , of
which sum the city' s share would be Twenty Thousand
Eighty Seven and 02/100 Dollars ($20,087.02) and the
County' s share would be Twenty Four Thousand Nine Hun-
dred Twelve and 98/100 Dollars ( 24,912.98) , and that
the funds hereby requested to be allocated and appor-
tioned out of the County' s apportionment of the Califor-
nia Highway Users Fund in the amount of Eight Thousand
Nine Hundred Ninety Dollars ($8,990.00) be allocated
and used to apply toward the City' s share of said proj-
ect and that the remainder of the City ' s portion, Elev-
en Thousand Ninety Seven and 02/100 Dollars ( 11,097.02) ,
be paid to the County by the City under the terms of
the agreement for the reconstruction and improvement
of said street; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Clay Street between
Goldenwest .Avenue and Hampshire Avenue (also known as
Highway 39) , be reconstructed and improved with a
twenty-four foot wide pavement of untreated rock base
together with an eight foot (81 ) shoulder, the norther-
ly half of said pavement being within the unincorporated
area of the County of Orange and the southerly half
within the City of Huntington Beach, excepting a small
portion at the westerly end of the project which would
be entirely in the unincorporated area of Orange County.
