HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 1282 RESOLUTION NO. 1282 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY CF HUNTINGTON BEACH ESTABLISHING THE GENERAL PREVAILING RATE OF PER DIEM WAGES FCH EACH CRAFT OR TYPE OF WORKMAN OR NECHANIC NMED IN THE CON- STRUCTION OF A JUSTICE COURT BUILDING, IN THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach has conducted a hearing for the purpose of establishing the general prevail- ing rate of hourly gages in this locality for workmen needed in the con- struction of a Justice Court Building in the City of Huntington Beach and has considered evidence presented. WORKING RULES 1. Where a single shift is worked, eight (8) consecutive hours between 8 A. M. and 5 P. M. shall constitute a day's work at straight time for all workers. 2. Forty (40) hours between Monday 8 A. M. and Friday, 5 P. M•, shall constitute a week's work at straight time. 3. All work performed in excess of eight (8) hours per day of forty (40) hours per week or on Holidays and Sundays shall be paid for at the rate for overtime of the craft involved. 4* Holidays as liarein referred to shall be deemed to be New Year's Day, i Decoration Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Armistice Day, Thanks- giving Day and Christmas. If any of the above holidays fall on Sunday, the Monday following shall be considered a legal holiday. OVERTIME RATES CARPENTERS - Double time for all overtime, except for Pile Driver Men - Bridge or.Dock Carpenters on tide work. CEVENT MASONS - Time and one-half for the first three hours after the regularly constituted straight-time shift, ard all other overtime shall be double time. _ 4 .. Reso. 12S2 0 WATCHMEN - Time and one-half for all time -worked in excess of eight (8) hours per day and for the sixth consecutive day worked, doub16 time for the seventh consecutive day worked* Watchmen shall also receive time and one-half for holidays, except where a holiday falls on the 7th consecutive day worked, which shall be double time. IRONWORKERS - Double time for all overtime. LABORERS - Time and one-ha-U., except Sundays and Holidays, -which are double time. OPERATING ENGINEERS - Time and one-half for all overtime, except Sundays and Holidays,, which are double time. Where Operating Engineers, during any one calendar day., are working overtime on the same unit of a pro- ject on which another craft is working overtime at the double time rate,, then the Operating Engineers on such unit of work shall also be paid at the double time rate. A unit of the project means any single building,, facility., utility., or any other single structure which is independent of any other unit of the project* The operation of a crushing plant for dock pile and the servicing, repairing,, and maintenance of equipment on a project shall be at time and one-half., except in the following two instances: 1. Sundays and holidays. 2. 'Where the qquipment operator is repairing his equipment on a unit of the project where double time is being paid in that calendar day. When the Operating Engineer is working on a project as an integral part of a crew whereanother craft is receiving overtime pay by virtue of a holiday not specified in the Master Labor Agreement, then the Operating Engineer shall receive the same overtime rate as the other craft. TEAMSTERS - Time and one-half except Sundays and Holidays,, which are double time. TIDE WORK SCHEDUIZ - The following provisions shall apply to Pile Driver Men., Laborers., and Operating Engineers only, on jobs or projects work- ing a single shift only: 1. 'When a workman., or workmen, are called out to work broken time or tide work, Monday through Friday, the minimum pay for such work shall be eight (8) hours at the applicable regular straight time rate., or rates. Subject to the above minimum, in computing the time to be paid for under this provision, eight (8) hours or less worked between 8:00 A. M. and 5:00 P. M. shall be paid for at the a plicable straight time rate., or rates., and time in excess of eight hours worked between 8:00 A. M. and 5:00 P. M. and any time worked before 8:00 A. M. or after 5:00 P. M., shall be paid for at the applicable overtime rate, or rates* 2, In the event a workman,, or workmen, are called out to work broken time or tide work on Saturdays,, Sundays or holidays the appli- cable overtime rate or rates shall be paid for all time worked and the minimum pay shall be six (6) hours at such overtime rate., or rates* FOREMEN:- All foremen not hezein separately classified shall be paid not less than 25 cents per hour more than the hourly rate of the highest classification over which he has supervision, - 5 Reso. 1282 APPRENTICES May be employed in conformity with Section 1777.5 of the California Labor Code. RIGGERS - Same wage scale as craft to which rigging is incidental. WEIDERS - Same wage scale as craft to which welding is incidental.
