A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH. FOR
ADMINISTRATION OF THE PAY STEP PLAN
UNDER SECTION 1563 OF THE HUNTINGTON
BEACH ORDINANCE CODE
WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted a schedule for ,
the payment of salaries to employees; and
WHEREAS, under Section 1563 of said compensation
plan, it provides that the administration of the pay step
plan shall be in accordance with the pay schedule set forth
by Resolution of the City Council,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
do hereby set forth and adopt a schedule for the adminis-
tration of the pay step plan, as follows:
Section 1. The A step is the normal hiring rate . New
employees shall be hired at a higher (B or C) step only
when it is impossible to hire at Step A, the person is ex-
ceptionally well qualified, and the Administrative Officer
concurs.
Section 2. The B step shall be paid an employee who
has served six months in the class at Step A and whose De-
partment Head certifies that his services are satisfactory.
Section 3, The C step shall be paid an employee who
has worked eighteen months in in the class or twelve months
at Step B, whichever is sooner, whose Department Head cer-
tifies that his services are satisfactory.

Section 4. The D step shall be awarded an employee
under either of two conditions:
a. A reward for an employee whose work is above
average , so certified by his Department Head,
and who has worked one year at Step C or
b. Am employee whose work is satisfactory and
who has worked two and one-half years at
Step C.
Section 5. The E Step shall be awarded an employee
under either of the following two conditions:
a. A reward for an employee whose work is un-
usually good and so certified by his Depart-
ment Head, and who has worked one year at
Step D, or
b. An employee whose work is fully satisfactory
and who has worked three years at Step D.
Section 6. Step F shall be awarded for super-senior-
ity. Only employees are eligible for this step who
• have served three years at Step E.
Section 7. The length of service in each of the
cases above set forth is related to time in the Step as
such, regardless of its pay, and not to length of time
paid at a particular number of dollars.

the members of said City Council at a regular meeting
