HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 1286 RESOLUTION NO. 1286 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH RELATING TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF A JUSTICE COURT BUILDING BY FORCE ACCOUNT. • WHEREAS, notice was duly published inviting sealed bids for the remodeling of an existing structure to confine court offices and for the construction of a Justice Court building in the City of Huntington Beach, California, and sealed bids were received as follows: Montgomery R. Fisher $287855.00 Geo. W. Hanyak $28,346.00 Coastate Builders $33,495.00 and WHEREAS, the engineer's estimate for said remodeling and construction was $19,662.00, and the lowest bid received was $8,684.00 over the engineer's estimate; and WHEREAS, said bids were referred to the City Engineer for study and report; and WHEREAS, the City Engineer after studying said bids re- ported to the City Council that in his opinion the bids were too high and that work could be performed more economically by force account and the materials and supplies furnished at a lower price in the open market; and WHEREAS, the City Council accepted said report and re- jected all bids and directed that the bid bonds be returned to the bidders; and -1- Reso. 1286 • WHERE , after further hearing from the City Engineer and from two of the bidders the City Engineer recommended that the work be done by force account. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that • 1. The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby find, declare and determine that in its opinion the remodeling of an existing structure to confine court offices and the construction of a Justice Court building in the City of Huntington Beach, California, may be performed more economically by force account and the materials and supplies secured at a lower price in the open market. 2. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said remodeling of an existing structure to confine court offices and the construc- tion of a Justice Court buildinge City in the y of Huntington Beach, California, be done by force account and the materials and supplies secured in the open market 3. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer be and he is hereby directed to proceed forthwith with the re- modeling of said structure and the construction of said • Justice Court building in accordance with plans, specifications and special provisions heretofore approved by the City Council.
