A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH FINDING
AND DECLARING THAT IT IS FOR THE BEST
INTERESTS OF THE CITY TO IMMEDIATELY
ENTER INTO AN OIL AND GAS LEASE
COVERING CERTAIN CITY OWNED PROPERTY
WITH W. M. CRISSMAN, HARRY HUNTER
AND A. H. TRESTER.
WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach owns certain
real property described as Lots 9, 11, 13 and 15, Block 515
Seventeenth Street Section; and
WHEREAS, it is believed that said lands may contain
valuable deposits of hydrocarbons, and producing wells have
recently been drilled in the vicinity of said lands and
further wells are now being drilled near thereto; and
WHEREAS, said wells may be draining oil and gas from
beneath said city-owned lands; and
WHEREAS, the City has been presented a proposal to
lease said lands for the drilling and exploration for and
production of oil and gas therefrom; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed necessary and expedient for the
best interests of the City that a lease be entered into im-
mediately in order to preserve, protect and develop the rights
of the City in said real property and to prevent the possible
drainage of its oil resources therefrom; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is empowered under Section
21+55 of the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code to immediately
enter into an oil and gas lease by adoption of a resolution

passed by a four-fifths vote, finding and declaring that the
best interests of the City will be served and protected by
immediately entering into said oil and gas lease:
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Huntington Beach that:
1. The City Council does hereby resolve, find and
li• declare and determine that the best interests of the City of
Huntington Beach will be served and protected by immediately
entering into an Oil and Gas Lease covering the real property
described as Lots 9, ll 13 and 15 Block 515, Seventeenth
Street Section of Huntington Beach.
2. The City Council further finds and declares that
W. M. Crissman, Harry Hunter and A. H. Trester have offered
to the City an Oil and Gas Lease covering the said real prop-
erty upon terms and conditions as set forth in said lease, a
copy of which is attached hereto and to which reference is
hereby made for further particulars.
3. The City Council further finds and declares that
it is for the best interests of the City of Huntington Beach
that said lease be entered into with W. M. Crissman, Harry
Hunter and A. H. Trester, and that the Mayor and City Clerk

be and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute
said lease on behalf of the City of Huntington Beach.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach, California, at a regular meeting thereof
held on the 20th day of August , 19
