A RESOLUTION OF TIM, CITY OF HUNTINGTON
BEACH CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE
HELD ON THE 4th DAY OF JUNE, 19577
PERTAINING TO THE NORTH ANNEXATION TO
THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH.
WHEREAS, By Resolution No. 1303, the City Council of the

City of Huntington Beach declared its intention to call a
special election to be held on the 4th day of June , 1957,
in certain inhabited territory contiguous to said city
proposed to be annexed to said city, for the purpose of sub-
mitting to the qualified electors residing in said territory
the question whether or not said territory shall be annexed
to said city; and
WHEREAS, a copy of said resolution was published as re-
quired by law; and
IdHEREAS, the City Council finds that at the time not
later than the hour set by said Resolution for hearing ob-
ject-ions to the proposed election, and not later than the
time to which said hearing was continued, neither written
and oral protests to said election were made by the owners
of one-half of the value of the territory proposed to be
annexed, as shown by the last equalized assessment roll,
nor were written and oral protests made by public and private
owners equal to one-half of the value of the territory; and
WHEREAS, all proceedings have been made in accordance
with said resolution and the Annexation Act of 1913, refer-
ence thereto hereby being made for further particulars;

NOU THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Huntington Beach:
Section 1. A special election hereby is called to be
held on the I+th day of June , 1957, in the territory herein-
after described and proposed to be annexed to the City of

Huntington Beach, for the purpose of submitting to the
qualified electors residing in said territory the question
whether or not such territory shall be annexed to, incor-
porated in, and made a part of said City of Huntington
Beach, and whether or not the property in said territory
shall, after such annexation, be subject to taxation, equally
with the property within the City of Huntington Beach, to
pay the entire bonded indebtedness of the City of Huntington
Beach outstanding or authorized at the date of the filing
of the petition for annexation for the acquisition, con-
struction or completion of municipal improvements.
Said territory is described as follows:
Beginning at the Southwest corner of the North
half (N2 1) of the Northeast quarter (NEV' ) of
f Section 3, Township 6 South, Range 11 West, San
Bernardino Meridian, said corner being in the
North Boundary line of the City of Huntington
Beach, as now established; thence North 1290
feet, more or less, to a point in the South
line of Garfield Street, sixty feet (601 )

wide as now laid out; thence West 20.00 feet)
along said South line of Garfield Street; thence
North 2690 feet , more or less along the West
Line of Edwards Street , Forty feet (40t ) wide as
now laid out, and its Southerly prolongation,to
an intersection with the North line of Ellis
Avenue , Forty Feet (401 ) wide as now laid out;
thence East 20.00 feet, along said North line of
Ellis Avenue , to a point in the North, South
quarter section line through Section 31+, Town-
ship 5 South, Range 11,West, San Bernardino
Meridian; thence North 2620 feet, more or less,
along said North, South quarter section line to
the North line of said Section 34; thence Vest
2640 feet, more or less, along the North line
of said Section 34, to the Northwest corner
thereof; thence North 2620 feet , more or less,
along the Westerly line of Section 27, Township
5 South, Range ll,west, San Bernardino Meridian,
to a point in the South line of Slater Avenue ,
forty feet (40t ) wide as now laid out; thence
Vest 1320 feet, more or less, along the South
line of Slater .Avenue to its Westerly terminus;
thence North 20.00 feet to the East West quay-
ter section line through Section 28, Township

hundred thirty two feet (1321 ) wide as now laid
out; thence South 4590 feet, more or less along
said East line of Huntington Beach Boulevard,
to an intersection with the North line of the
South half (s2) of the Southwest quarter (SW')
of the Southwest quarter (SW4) of Section 24,
Township 5 South, Range ll,�iest, San Bernardino
Meridian; thence East 1232 feet, more or less,
along the North: line of said South half (S0
of the Southwest quarter (SW4) of the Southwest
quarter (SY ) of said Section 24, to the North-
east corner of the South half (S2) of the South-
west quarter (SW�+-) of the Southwest quarter (S1k)
of said Section 24; thence South 3280 feet, more
or less , along quarter, quarter section lines to

Avenue , Forty feet (401 ) wide as now laid out;
thence East 1340 feet, more or less, along said
North line of Slater avenue , to an intersection
with the East line of Newland Street Forty feet

Street, to an intersection with the Easterly
produced Southerly line of the North half (N*)

Northeast quarter (ND ) of the Northwest quarter

feet, more or less, to the Northeast corner of

ter (MAV^ ) of said Section 36; thence South one
(1) mile , more or less along quarter, quarter ,
section lines to the Southeast corner of the North-
west quarter (P ) of the Northwest quarter (I -;'W)
of Section 1, Township 6 South, Range 11, West,
San Bernardino Meridian; thence West 132 feet,
more or less , to the Northwest corner of the East
�+ Acres, of the Southwest quarter (SWj) of the
Northwest quarter (I\ ) of said Section 1; thence
South 1320 feet , more or less, along the West
line of said East 4 .Acres, of the Southwest quar-
ter (SI ) of the Northwest quarter (IVY) of said

Section 1, to the Southwest corner of said East
4 Acres, heretofor last mentioned, said point
being in the center line of Yorktown Street,
said point being also in the boundary line of the
City of Huntington Beach as now established;

thence lest 1188 feet, more or less, to an angle
point in said boundary line ; thence North 1320
feet , more or less, to an angle point in said
boundary line ; thence West one and one-half (1*)
miles , more or less, along said boundary line
of the City of Huntington Beach to the true
point of beginning of this description.

Section 2. Tl ,,i1 OF OPENING AND CLOSING OF POLLS.
The polls at said election shall be opened at 7 o' clock
a.m. of the day herein fixed for the holding of said elec-
tion and shall be kept open until 7 o'clock p.m. of the
same day, when the polls shall be closed.
Section 3. BALLOTS. Upon the ballots to be used at
• said election there shall be printed the words:

Opposite these words there shall be printed the words
"Yes" and "No," and to t --e right of each of these last two
words there shall be a voting square. If an elector shall
stamp a cross (+) in the voting square after the printed
word "Yes" the vote of such elector shall be counted in
favor of the annexation of said territory to the City of

Huntington Beach; and if an elector shall stamp a cross
(t) in the voting square after the printed word "No" the
vote of such elector shall be counted against such annex—
ation.
In all particulars not herein recited said election
shall be held in conformity, as near as may be, with the
laws of the State of California concerning general
elections and with said Annexation Act of 1913.

Section 4. (a) For the pur_:-"ose of said election
there is nereby establislied in the territory described flerein

Section 5. The City Clerk shall publish a notice of
said special election as required by said. Annexation Act of
1913, at least once a v,!eek for the four (4) creeks prior to
tZe date of tie election on June 4th, 1957, in the i.1estminster
I3erald, a newspaper of general circulation printed and pub-
• lished outside of the City of Huntington peach but in the
County of Orange, California.
Section b. The City Clerl, shall certify to the
adoption of this resolution and cause the same to be pub-
lished once in the iiuntington reach News.
