HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 1308 r .R • RESOLUTION No. 1308 A RESOLUTION OF ThE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO CALL A SPECIAL ELECTION IN CERTAIN INHABITED TERRITORY C01MGUOUS TO SAID CITY PROPOSED TO BE ANNEXED THERETO, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS RESIDING IN • SAID TERRITORY THE QUESTION WHETHER OR NOT SAID TERRITORY SHALL BE ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AND FIXING A TIME AND PLACE WHEN AND WHERE ANY PER- SON OWNING REAL PROPERTY WITHIN SUCH TERRITORY MAY APPEAR BEFORE SAID CITY COUNCIL AND SHOW CAUSE WHY SUCH TERRITORY SHOULD NOT BE SO ANNEXED BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach: Section 1: That it is the intention of the City Counc- il of the City of Huntington Beach to call a special elec- tion to be held on the 6th day of Aught , 1957, in cer— tain inhabited territory contiguous to said city, proposed to be annexed thereto, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors residing in said territory the question whether or not said territory shall be annexed to the City • of Huntington Beach, and the property in the territory sub- jected to taxation after annexation equally with property within the City of Huntington Beach to pay the bonded in- debtedness of the City of Huntington Beach,outstanding or authorized at the date of the first publication of the Notice of Election, for the acquisition, construction or completion of municipal improvements. • 1, -t Reno. 1308 • Said territory is described as follows: Beginning at an angle point in the boundary line of the City of Huntington Beach as now established, said point being .in the South line of the Northwest quarter (Ni ) of Section 1, Township 6 South, Range 11 West, San Bernardino Meridian and distant thereon East 118 feet, more or less from the Southwest corner of the Northwest quarter of said Section 1. said point also being the Southwest corner of the East 4 Acres of the Southwest quarter (S ) of the Northwest quarter (NW ) of said Section 1; thence North 1320 feet, more or lens, along the West line of said East 4 Acres to the Northwest corner of said East 4 Acres; thence East 132 feet, more or less, to the Northwest corner of the Southeast quarter (SF4) of the Northwest quarter (NW*) of said Section 1; thence Northerly along quarter, guar- ter section lines to an intersection with a line drawn parallel with and 30 feet North, measured at right angles from the South line of Section 36, Township 5 • South, Range 11 West, San Bernardino Meridian; thence Easterly along said parallel line to an intersection with the West lane of the East half (E*) of the South- east quarter (SE+) of the Southwest quarter (SW-f) of said Section 36; thence South 10 feet along said West line to an intersection with a line drawn parallel to and 20 feet North, measured at right angles from. the • 2. Res. No. 1308 • South line of said Section 36; thence East along said par- allel line and its Easterly prolongation to an intersec- tion with a line drawn parallel to and distant 30 feet Easterly, measured at right angles from the West line of Section 31, Township 5 South, Range 10 West, San Bernar- dino, Meridian; thence Northerly along said , y g parallel line to an intersection with a line drawn parallel to and distant 30.00 feet Northerly, measured at right angles from the South line of said Section 31; thence East- erly along said parallel line and along a line that is parallel with and 30.00 feet Northerly, measured at right angles from the South line of Section 32, said Township and Range, to an intersection with the Westerly line of the Santa Ana River Channel as shown on a map Recorded in Book 12, Pages 25 to 31 inclusive of Records of Surveys, on file in the office of the County Recorder; thence Southwesterly 2.25 miles, more or less, along the said Westerly line of the Santa Ana River Channel, as shown on the Records of Surveys Maps, hereinabove mentioned, to an intersection with the boundary line of the City of Costa Mesa, as now established; thence Westerly and Southerly, along said Boundary line to a point in the boundary line of the City of Huntington Beach as now established in the North line of Section 19, Township 6 South, Range 10 West, San Bernardino Meridian; thence Westerly, Northerly, Westerly and Northerly, 4.5 miles • 3. Res.No. 1308 • more or less, following along the boundary line of the City of Huntington Beach, as now estab- lished, to an angle point in said boundary line in the South line of the Northwest quarter (NW*) of Section 1, Township 6 South, Range 11 West, • San Bernardino Meridian and the point of beginning of this description, Section 2. That said territory hereby is designated and identified for such election purposes and for use upon the ballots at such election as "Bast Annexation." Section 3, Notice is hereby given that on the 2Zth day of May, 1957, at the hour of 7:30 P.M. , in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of the City of Huntington Beach, any person owning real property within said territory so proposed to be annexed and having any objection to the pro- posed annexation may appear before said City Council and shot cause why such territory should not be so annexed. Such protest must be in writing and shall state the name or names • of the owner or owners of the property affected by such annexation, and the location and area of such property in general terms. If it be found that protest is not made by the owners of one-half of the value of the territory proposed to be annexed as shown by the last equalized assessment roll or if protest is not made by public and private owners equal to one-half of the value of the territory, further proceedings • 4, Res.No. 1308 shall be taken in accordance with the law for the holding of such special election. Section 4: That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution and shall cause the same to be published in the Huntington Beach News, a weekly newspaper published, printed and circulated in the City of Huntington Beach, Orange County, California, at least once a week for the two weeks prior to the said hearing, PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach, California, at a regular meeting thereof held on the 61h day of Play, 1957.
