A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON
BEACH CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE
HELD ON THE 6 th BAY OF AUGUST, 1957 9
PERTAINING TO = EAST ANNEXATION TO
THE CIS CE HUNTINGT ON BEACH
WHEREAS,. By Resolution No. 1308, the City Counncil of the
City of Huntington, Beach declared its intention, to call a
special election to be held on the 6th day of August,. 1957,
in certain inhabited territory contiguous to said city pro-
posed to be annexed to said city, for the purpose of submitt-
ing to the qualified electors residing its said territory the
question whether or not said territory shall be annexed to
said city,* and
WHEREAS,, a copy of said resolution was published as re-
quired by law; and.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that at the time not
later than the hour set by said resolution. for .hearing objec-
tions to the proposed election and not later than the time to
which said, hearing was continued, that no oral or written
protests t6 said election were made; and
WHEREAS, all proceedings have been made In accordance
with said resolution and the Annexation Act of 1913, refer-
ence thereto hereby being made for further particulars;
NOW THEREFOREs BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of

the City of Huntington Beach®
Section 1. A special election hereby is called tO be
held on the 6th day of August, 1957, in the territory herein-
after described, and proposed to be annexed to the City of
Huntington Beach,, for the purpose of submitting- to the qual-
ified electors residing in said territory the question
whether or not such territory shall be annexed to, incorpora-
ted ins and made a part of said City of Huntington Beach, and
ether or not the property in said territory shall, after
such annexations be subject to taxation, equally with the
property within the City of Huntington Beach., to pay the en-
tire bonded indebtedness of the City of Huntington Bea.h out-
standing or authorized at the date of the first publication
of the notice of election$ for the acquisition, construction
or completion of municipal improvements.
Said territory is described as Follows:
Beginning at an angle point its the boundary lime
of the City of Huntington Beach as now establish-
ed, said point being in the South line of the
Northwest quarter (NW ) of Section 1, Township
South,Hange 11 West, San Bernardino Meridian and
distant thereon. East 1188 Feet, more or less
from thie Southwest corner of the Northwest quar-
ter of said. Section 1, said point also being the
Southwest corner of the Bast 4 Acres of the South-

crest quarter (SW�) of the Northwest quarter (NW I.)
of said Section 1; thence North 1320 feeto more
or less, along the Nest line of said East 4 Acres
to the Northwest corner of said East 4 Acres;
thence East 132 feet, more or less, to the North-
west corner of the Southeast quarter (SEA) of
the Northwest quarter (NW ) of said. gection 1
thence Northerly along quarter, quartbr section
lines to an intersection with a line drawn parall-
el with and 34 feet Forth., Measured at right
angles from the South line of Section 36, Town-
ship 5 South, Range 11 West, San Bernardino Mer-
idiano, thence Easterly along said parallel line
to an intersection with the West line of the
East half (EJ) of the Southeast quarter (SEA) of
the Southwest quarter (SV'J) of said Section 36
thence South 10 feet along. said. Vest line to an
Intersection with a line drawn parallel to and.
20 feet North, measured at right angles from the
South line of said Section 360, thence East along
said parallel line and its Easterly prolongation
to an intersection with a line drawn parallel to
and. distant 34 feet Easterly, measured at right
angles from the West, lane of Section 31, Township
5 South, Range 10 Vest, San Bernardino Meridian;

thence Northerly along said parallel line to an
intersection with a line drags parallel to and
distant 30.00 feet Northerly, measured at right
angles from the South line of said Section 31
thence Easterly along said parallel line and
along a line that is parallel with and 30.00
feet Northerly, measured at right angles_ from
the South line of Section 32, said Township and
Range, to an intersection with the Westerly line
of the Santa Ana River Channel, as shown on a
map Recorded in Book 12, Pages 25 to 31 inclusive
of Records of Surveys, on file in the office of
the County Recorder? thence Southwesterly 2.25
miles, more or less, along the said. Westerly
line of the Santa Ana River Channel, as shown on
the Records of Surveys baps, hereinabove mention—
ed,ed, to an intersection with the boundary line of
the City of Costa Mesa, as now established; thence
Westerly and. Southerly, along said boundary line
to a point In the boundary line of the City of
Huntington Beach as now established in the North
line of Section 19, Township 6 South, Range 10
'hest, San Bernardino Meridian; thence Westerly$
Northerly, Westerly- and Northerly, 4.5 miles, more
or less$ following along the boundary line of the

City of Huntington Beach, as now established., to
an angle point in said boundary line In the South
line of the Northwest quarter (NW1.) of Section 1,
Township 6 South, Rene 11 "hest, San Bernardino
Meridian and the point of beginning of this de-
scription,
Section 2. TIRE OF OPENING AND CLOSING OF POLLS.
The palls at said election shall be opened at 7 ,00 o' clock
A.M, of the day herein fixed for the holding of said elect
tisn and shall be kept open until 7#Co o'clock P.H. of the
same day, when the polls shall be closed, except as prodded
in section 5734 of the Elections Code of the Mate of Calif-
ornia.
Section 3. BALLOTS. Upon the ballots to be used at
said election there shall be printed the word.st
SHALL THE EAST, ANNEXATION BE ANNEXED TO THE
CITY OF HUN_TINGTON BEACH AND THE PROPERTY IN
SUCH TERRITORY BE, AFTER SUCH ANNE i ION$
SUBJECT' TO TAXATION EQUALLY WITH THE PROPER=
WITHIN THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, TO PAY
THE ENTIRE BONDED INDEBTEDNESS OF THE CITY
OF HUN `INGTON BEACH OUTSTANDING OR AUTHORIZ-
ED AT THE DATE OF THE FIRST PUBLICATION OF
THE NOTICE OF ELECTION FOR THE AC ,T3IST` ION,
CONS` RUCTION OR CO <PLETION OF MUNICIPAL IM-
PROVEMENTS.

Opposite these words there shall be printed the words
"'Yes" and "No, " and to the right of each of these last two
words there shall be a voting square. If an elector shall
stamp a cross (4) in the voting square after the printed.
word ""Yes" the vote of such elector shall be counted in
favor of the annexation of said territory to the City of
Huntington Beach; and if an elector shall stamp a cross
(4) in the voting square after the printed word "No" the
vote of such elector shall be counted against such annexa-
tion,
In all particulars not herein recited said election
shall be held in conformity, as near as may be, with the
laws of the ,State of California concerning general elec°A*
tions and with said. Annexation Act of 1913.
Section 4. (a) For the purpose of holding said elec-
tion, there is hereby established in the territory describ-
ed herein ,one election precinct designated as "East Annex-
ation Voting Precinct" . The polling place for said pre-
cinct shall be the place hereinafter designated and the
persons hereinafter nameds being competent and qualified,
electors of said territory and .of said election precinct,
have been appointed, officers of election and they shall
hold said election and make return thereof in the Manner
prescribed by law.

The East Annexation Voting Precinct shall consist
of all of said above described territory proposed to be
annexed to the City of Huntington Beach for the purpose
of holding said elections.

(b) For their services in connection
with said election, said inspector shall receive $18.00
and. said Judges 15.00 each; and the person in possession
of the polling puce named herein shall receive for the
use of such premises in connection with said election the
saint of $10.00.
Section 5. The City Clerk shall publish a notice
of said special election as required by said Annexation
Act of 1913, at least once a week for the four (4) weeks
prior to the date of the election on August 6, 197, in
the Westminster Herald., a newspaper of general circulation
printed and published outside of theCity of Huntington
Beach but in the County of Oranges California.

Section. 6. Ze City Clem shall..: certify to the
adoption of this resolution and cause the same to be pub-
lished once in the Huntington Beach News,

and. acting City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach, and
ex affieio Clerk of the City Council of said. City, do here-
by certify that the whale number of members of the City
Council of the City of Huntington Beach is five; that the
foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the affirma-
tive vote of more than a majority of all the members of
said City Council at a regular meeting thereof held on
the loth day of June, 1957, by the following vote
