The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach do
resolve as follows:
That at the general municipal election, to be held in
the City of Huntington Beach on April kith, 1958, there shall.
be sulm Jted to the qualified electors of said Canty, a prop—
os tioh to adopt an ordinance amending Ordinance No. 403.,
which has been codified as Section 1261, of the Huntington
Beach Ordinance Code to make the office of the Chief of
Police , an appointive office .
BE IT FURTHER WC VED that the Ordinance so submitted
to the voters, shall be in words and figures as folio-us:

BEACH ORDINANCE CODE.
The People e of the City of Huntington Beach do ordain
as follows:
Section 1. That Section 1261 of the Huntington
Beach Ordinance Code be and he sae is hereby
amended to read in words and figu es,as follows;

Sectio 1261. ARaointment of Ghia ° of Poke
The Chief of Police shall be appointed by the
City Council and- shall hold office at the pleas—
ure of the CUtnc il.
Section 2. The City Clark shall certify to the
adoption of this ordinance and shall cause the
same to be published by one insertion in the
Huntington Beach News, a weekly newspaper, pub-
lished, printed and circulated in he City of
Huntington Beach, Grange County, California, and
this ordinance shall take effect and be i
force 9 as provided by law.
B 1t FURTHER RESOLVED that the City ;leek be and he
is hereby instructed to cause a proposition for the adopt-
ion of said ordinance to be ;printed on the ballot to be
used at the Kneral Municipal Election to be held on
€pr l 8th, 195j, and that said proposition ;is to be
printed on the ballot in substantially the following

19 JOHN L. HENRICKSEN, the duly elected, qualified
and acting City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach and
ex-officio Clerk of the City Council of said City, do here-
by certify that the whole number of members of the City
Council of the City of Huntington Beach is five ; that the
foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the afirma-
tive vote of more than a majority of all the members of
said City Council at a regular meeting thereof held on
the 23rd day of December 0 1957, by the following vote :
