RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, STATE
OF CALIFORNIA, DECLARING ITS INTEND-
TION TO GRANT A PIPELINE FRANCHISE
TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON COMPANY
WHEREAS, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA : DISON COMPANY, a
California corporation, has filed with the City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach an application requesting
that a franchise be granted to it of the character and
for the purpose mentioned in the form of notice here-
inafter set forth; and
WHEREAS, in the opinion of said Council the public
requires that said franchise be granted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that said City
Council intends to grant said franchise, that hearing of
objections to the granting thereof will be held at the
time and place specified at the time of notice herein-
after set forth which the City Clerk of said City is
hereby directed to publish at least once within fifteen
(15) days after passage of this resolution in the Hunt-
ington Beach News, a newspaper of general circulation
within said City, and that said notice shall be in the
following words and figures:
"NOTICE OF INTENTION TO GRANT FRANCHISE°'
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Southern California
Edison Company, a California corporation, has filed its
application with the City Council of the City of Hunt-
ington Beach requesting that said City Council grant to
it a franchise for an indeterminate term to construct,

lay, operate, maintain, use, renew, repair, replace,
move, change the size and number of, and remove or
abandon in place a system of pipelines and appurtenances
for the purpose of conducting, transporting, conveying
and carrying gas, oil, petroleum, water, and other sub-
stances on, along, in, under and across public streets,
ways, alleys and places within the City of Huntington
Beach; said system of pipelines and appurtenances as aforesaid
to extend generally along the following routes : (1)
southerly along Bolsa Chica Road from and including the
intersection of said road and Smeltzer Avenue to the
south boundary line of the City of Huntington Beach;
(2) easterly along Wintersburg Avenue from the westerly
boundary of the City of Huntington Beach to and in-
eluding the intersection of said avenue and Edwards
Street, thence southerly along Edwards Street to and
including the intersection of said street and Garfield
Avenue, thence easterly along Garfield Avenue to and
including the intersection of said avenue and Newland
Street; (3) southerly along Newland Street from the
intersection of said street and Garfield Avenue to
Pacific Coast Highway; together with the right to con-
struct, operate, maintain and use a private comm-
unication system consisting of poles, crossarms, con-
ductors, wires, communication circuits and all other
necessary or convenient appliances or attachments to
be used in connection with the operation and maintenance
of said system of pipelines and appurtenances as afore-
said, on along, in, under, over and across the public

streets, ways, alleys and places within the City of
Huntington Beach.
If said franchise shall be granted to it, said
Southern California Edison Company, its successors and
assigns, hereinafter designated grantee, shall during
the life of said franchise pay to said City two per
cent (2%) of the gross annual receipts of said grantee
arising from the use, operation or possession of said
franchise. Such percentage shall be paid annually
from the date of granting of the Franchise applied for,
and in the event such payment shall not be made said
franchise shall be forfeited. City Council of the City
of Huntington Beach proposes to grant said franchise
for an indeterminate period.
NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that any and all
persons having any objections to the granting of said
franchise may appear before said council at the City
Hall of said City at the hour of 8:45 o 'clock, p.m. ,
on Monday , the 17th, day of March, 1958, and be
heard thereon;
NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVE' that at any time
not later than the hour set for hearing objections any
person interested may make written protests stating
objections against the granting of said franchise, which
protest must be signed by the protestant and be delivered
to the City Clerk of said City, and the Council shall at
the time set for hearing said objections proceed to
hear and pass upon all protests so made.

For further particulars reference is hereby
made to said Application which is on file in the office
of said City Clerk, and also to the Resolution adopted
by the said City Council declaring its intention to
grant said franchise.

Beach is five; that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the affirmative vote, of more than a
majority of all the members of said City Council at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 17th day of
February , 1958, by the following roll call vote:
