HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 1338 RESOLUTION NO. 1338 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON ,BEACHt CALIFORNIA, ORDERING, CALLING AND PROVIDING FOR THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE 8TH DAY OF APRIL, 1958 WHEREAS, Section 36503 of the Government Code re- quires that a general municipal election be held in gene- ral law cities on the second Tuesday in April of each even numbered year; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach, California, does hereby RESOLVE, DETER- MINE AND ORDER as follows: Section 1. That said general municipal election be held and the same is hereby called to be held in the City of Huntington Beach on April 8, 1958. Section 2. That the polls for said election shall be opened at seven o 'clock A. M. of the day of said elect- ion and shall remain open continuously from said time until seven o 'clock P.T . of the same day, when said polls shall be closed, except as provided in Section 5734 of the Elections Code of the State of California. Section 3. That for the purpose of holding said general municipal election there shall be and are hereby established nine (9) voting precincts designated as here- inafter stated.. Each such voting precinct shall consist of either regular election precincts in the City of Hunt- ington Beach established for the holding of State ~' and County elections, as said regular election precincts 1. RESO. No. 1338 exist on the date of adoption of this resolution or a consolidation of some or all of such precincts. That the polling places for the respective precincts shall be the places hereinafter designated; and that the persons hereinafter named, being competent and qualified electors and residents of said city and of their respective, voting precincts, are hereby appointed officers of election for their respective voting precincts and they shall hold said election and make return thereof in the manner provided by law. Voting Precinct No. 1. Comprising State and County election precincts numbers Huntington Beach one and two, and the polling place thereof shall be at the Memorial Hall, located at the Southeast corner of Magnolia Avenue and Sixth Street, in said city. Comprising State and County election precincts numbers Huntington Beach four and five, and the polling place thereof shall be at the First Methodist Church, Sunday School Bungalow located at 401 Eleventh Street, in said city. No. 1338 Voting precinct No. 3 Comprising State and County election precincts numbers Huntington Beach three and eleven, and the polling place thereof shall be in the garage at the Heaston 're- sidence, located at 507 - 6th Street in said city. Heaston Voting precinct No. 4 Comprising State and County election precincts numbers Huntington Beach six and ten, and the polling place thereof shall be at the Huntington Beach Elementary School, Athletic Building, located at Sixteenth Street and Palm Avenue, in said city. Rardin Voting precinct No. 5 Comprising State and County elections precincts numbers Huntington Beach eight and nine and the polling place thereof shall be at the Purdy residence located at 511 Hartford Street, in said city. Voting precinct No. 6 Comprising State and County election precincts numbers Huntington Beach seven and twelve, and the poll- ing place thereof shall be in the garage at the Mosier residence, located at 946 - llth Street, in said city. Knisley Clerk: Opal M. .Presson Voting precinct No. 7 Comprising State and County election precincts numbers Huntington Beach thirteen and fourteen, and the polling place thereof shall be at the Renfro residence located at 18891 Huntington Beach Boulevard, in said city. Jones Voting precinct No. 8 Comprising State and County election precinct number Huntington Beach fifteen, and the polling place thereof shall be at the Ocean View School Auditorium located at 17021 .Huntington Beach Boulevard, in said city. NO. 1338 Voting precinct No. 9 Comprising Mate and County election precinct number Huntington Beach sixteen, and the polling place thereof shall be at the Country. Bay School located at the North- east corner of Wintersburg and Springdale Avenues, in, said city. Inspector: Velda B. Worthy Judge: Cora E. Pratt Clerk: Gladys Wood Clerk: Myrtle Letson Section 4. That except as otherwise provided in this resolution, the election called hereby shall be held and conducted as provided by Chapter 2, Part 2, Division l 11 of the Elections Code, and in all respects not other- wise provided for in said Chapter, said election shall be held and conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Elections Code governing elections generally, so far as they may be applicable. Section 5. That the compensation which shall be paid to each election officer and the rental to be paid to each owner as rental for each polling place is as follows : Inspector: 20.00 Fudge : 17.00 Clerks: 17.00 Polling Places: 10.00 5. RESO. NO. 1338 Section 6. That the City Council of said city shall meet at its usual place of meeting on April 14, 1958, at 7:30 o 'clock P.M. , of said day, and proceed to canvass the election returns and declare the result of said election. Section 7. That the City Clerk shall give the notices required by law for the holding of said general municipal election. Section 8. This resolution shall take effect upon its adoption.
