RESOLUTION No, 1381
A RESOLUTION OF TBE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH GIVING NOTICE
OF PROPOSED ANNEXATION TO CITY OF HUNT-
INGTON BEACH OF UNINHABITED TERRITORY
DESCRIBED HEREIN AND DESIGNATED "WEST
ANNEIATION", AND GIVING NOTICE OF TII
AND PLACE FOR HEARING OF PROTESTS THEIOTO.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TER CITY OF HUNT-
INGTON BEACH,
1. That, pursuant to the provisions of the Annexation
of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939, a petition signed by
owners of not less than one-fourth of the land in the here-
inafter described territory, by area and by assessed value
as shown on the last equalized assessment roll of the County
of Orange was filed with the Council of the City of Huntington
Beach on June 24th , 1959, requesting annexation of the be re-
inafter described territory to said City,
2, That the territory which the petitioners request be
annexed to the City of Huntington Beach and which said City
and its Council propose to annex' is situate in the County
of Orange, State of California, hereby designated "West
Annexation", and described as follows:
"Commencing at the Northeast corner of Section 20,
Township 5 South, Range 11 West , San Bernardino
Base and Meridian; thence Northerly, along the
East line of Section 17, T. 5S. , R. 11 W. , S.B.B.
& M., 30 feet to a point; thence Westerly 30 feet
to a point in the West line of Bolsa Chica Street,

60 feet in width as now Laid out, said point
being in the existing boundary line of the
City of Huntington Beach and said point being
also the true point of beginning; thence
Westerly along the North line of Smeltzer .Avenue,
60 feet in width as now laid out said line be-
ing 30 feet North of and parallel to the North
line of said Section 20, 3930 feet more or less
to a point in the northerly prolonation of the
West line of the East one-half (E2 of the ,North-
west one-quarter (NWJ-) of said Section 20;thence
Southerl along said-West line of the East one.

ing boundary line of the City of Huntington Beach;
thence Northerly along said West lane of Bolsm
Chica`Street and said boundary line 2010 feet
more or less to the true point of beginning,
3. That the County Boundary Commission of Orange County,
California, did in session duly assembled on Larch 23rd,1959,
consider the proposed annexation boundaries of said "West
.Annexation" as above described, and as submitted to said
Commission by the proponents of said annexation.
4. That August s .17 , 1959, at the hour
of 8:00 o'clock P.M, in the Council Chambers in, the City
Hall in the City of Huntington Beach, County of Orange t
California, is hereby fixed as the time and place when and where
any person owning real property within the uninhabitard terr-
itory above described and proposed to be annexed to the City

of Huntington Beach, and having any objections to the pro-
posed annexation, may appear before the Council of the City
of Huntington Beach and show cause why such uninhabited terr-
itory should not be so annexed to the City of Huntington.
Beach, The protest must be in writing, may be filed at any
. time before the hour set for hearing objections to the pro-
posed annexation., and shall state the name or names of the
owner or owners of property affected and the description and
area of such property, in, general terms,
5. The City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach is
hereby authorized and directed to cause a copy of this reso-
lution to be published at least twice, but not oftener than
once a week, in the "Huntington Beach News", a newspaper of
general circulation published in said City of Huntington
Beach, the city to which it is proposed to annex the aforesaid
territory, and also in the "Westminster Herald", a newspaper
of general circulation published outside the City of Hunting-
ton Beach but in the County of Orange, California, the county
in which is located the territory proposed to be annexed to
the City of Huntington Beach, said publication to be complete
at Least twenty t20, days prior to the date set for hearing.
6. The said City Clerk is further authorized and direct-
ed to cause written notice of such proposed annexation to be
mailed to each person to whom land within the territory pro-

posed to be annexed was assessed in the last equalized
county assessment roll available on the date the above said
proceedings were initiated, at the addresses shown on said
assessment roll or known to said Clem, and to any person
who has filed his name and address and the designation of
the lands in which he has an interest, either legal or 'equit.
able, with said Clerk, such notice to be given not less
than twenty (20) days before the first public hearing on
the proposed annexation.
7, In the event any land within the territory proposed
to be annexed is owned by a county, the City Clerk is direct—
ed to cause written notice of such proposed annexation to
be mailed to the Board of Supervisors of such county, such
notice to be given not less than twenty (20) days before the
first public hearing on the proposed annexation,
8, The City Clerk is directed to cause written notice
to be given to such other persons as may be legally entitled
thereto, in the manner required by law.
PASSED .AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach, California, at a regular meeting thereof
held on the 24th day of June, 1959,

acting City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-
officio Clerk of the City Council of said City, do hereby
certify that the whole number of members of the City
Council of the City of Huntington Beach is five; that the
foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the affirma-
tive vote of more than a majority of. all the members of
said City Council at a regular meeting thereof held on the
24th day of June , 1959, by the following vote:

Lambert, Bryant, Terry, Waite, Irby.
NOES: Councilmen;
None.
ABSENT: Councilmen.
