HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 1406 S RESOLUTION No. 1406 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH CHANGING THE NAME OF STATE HIGHWAY 39 TO BEACH BOULEVARD. The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach do re- solve as follows: WHEREAS, State Highway 39 in the City of Huntington Beach is known by the name of "Hampshire Avenue" and "Hunt- ington Beach Boulevard"; and WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission, after study, did duly pass and adopt its resolution recommending to the City Council that in order to create less confusion to the public and give continued streets the same name between County and City territory, that the name of "State Highway 39" should be changed to "Beach Boulevard"; and WHEREAS) the City Council finds that said change of name has been recomiended by the Orange County Street Naming Committee and endorsed by other interested groups; and WHEREAS, after a thorough study of the matter, the City Council does find that the assignment of the name "Beach Boulevard" to that portion of State Highway 39 will result in less confusion to the public and that by reason of the fore- going facts, public convenience and necessity require that said name be changed; 1. Rose No. 1406 NOW TIEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that the name of that portion of State Highway 39 in the City of Huntington Beach, now known as "Hampshire Avenue" and"Huntington Beach Boulevard'' , be changed to "Beach Boulevard" PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington reach, California, at a regular meeting thereof held on the 18th day of January, 1960.
