HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 1443 RESOLUTION No. 1443 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH DECLARING ITS FAVOR AND APPROVAL OF TBE DEVELOPMENT OF THE SUNSET' BEACH AREA OF ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, BY HUNTINGTON HARBOUR CORPORATION IN THE NIAN- NER PROPOSED IN APPLICATIONS BY HUNTINGTON HARBOUR CORPORATION TO THE DISTRICT ENGINEER OF THE U. S. ARMY CORPS OP ENGINEERS, THE STATE LANDS C01/1MISSION OF THE STATE CF CALIFORNIA AND THE HARBOR. COMISSION OF THIS ORANGE COUNTY HARBOR DISTRICT. The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach resolves as follows: 1. WHEREAS, there is in the Sunset Beach Area of Orange '_ cunty, California, an area of undeveloped lands composed in large part of tide and submerged lands and salt marsh which has heretofore been used by Rancho Lomita, Inc. for duck hunting purposes; and i 2. WHEREAS, Huntington Harbour Corporation has acquired said lands with the announced intention of developing the same as a planned community and a salt water marina; and 3. WHEREAS, pursuant to such intention Huntington Har- bour Corporation on November 17, 1960, filed applications with the District Engineer of the U. S. Army Corps of Engin- eers and the State Lands Commission of the State of Calif- ornia requesting permission to dredge and construct channels on said lands, and on November 18, 19601 filed a similar ap- 1. Res. No. 1443 plication with the Harbor Commission of the Orange County Harbor District; and 1+. WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach has a strong and legitimate interest in the proposed development of said lands in that the same lie within the city limits of the City of Huntington Beach; and 5. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach has examined said applications of Huntington Harbour Corporation and the plan of development proposed therein, including that certain plan of channel construction append- ed hereto as Exhibit A; and 6. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach believes it to be desirable and in the best interests of the public of the City of Huntington Beach to announce its favor and approval of the plan of development proposed by Huntington Harbour Corporation in said applications; NOW THEREF ORE, BE IT RESOLVED: Section 1. The City of Huntington Beach and the City Council thereof regard with favor the construction of the improvements proposed by Huntington Harbour Corporation in those certain applications of said corporation to the Dis- trict Engineer of the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, filed . November 17, 1960 to the State Lands Commission of the State of California, filed November 17, 1960, and to the Harbor Commission of Orange County Harbor District, filed November 2. Res. No. 1443 1$ 1960, and the plan of waterway development of Huntington Harbour Corporation shown on Exhibit A hereto. Section 2. The City of Huntington Beach and the City Council thereof believe that the plan of development describ- ed in Section 1 hereof will not impair or interfere with de- veloped recreational or residential areas and believe that the same will benefit the convenience and welfare of persons residing in, owning real property and working within the City of Huntington Beach and its environs. Section 3. The City .Attorney and/or the Administrative Officer of the City of Huntington Beach are hereby authorized to appear at any public hearings on the applications de- scribed in Section 1 hereof and present at such hearings the City' s favor and approval of the development proposed in said applications, as more particularly described herein.
