A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH DECLARING ITS
INTENTION TO EMPLOY THE CALIFORNIA STATE
DEPARTMENT CP FINANCE TO COMPLETE A
POPULATION ESTIMATE.
WHEREAS, it is provided in Section 194.2, Streets and
Highways Code, that any city or city and county whose popula-
tion has increased substantially since the last Federal Census
may apply to Department to estimate the increase in population;
and
WHEREAS said Section 1 42 provides that Department

may make the estimate if in the opinion of Department there is
available adequate information upon which to base the estimate;
and
WHEREAS, City desires to have Department estimate the
increase in population of City and Department is willing to
make such estimation, provided adequate information is available
upon which to base the estimate,
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTING-
TON BEACH DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That it is the intention of said City
Council to contract with the State Department of Finance for
the preparation of a population estimate which will be accepta-
ble by the State of California for the allotment of State
Subventions, said estimate to be available June 1st, 1961.

Section 2. That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby
directed and authorized to execute the Agreement between the
City of Huntington Beach and the State Department of Finance
for the population estimate.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach, California, at a regular meeting thereof
held on the 20th day of March 1961.

I, PAUL C. JONES, the duly elected= qualified and
acting City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-
officio Clerk of the City Council of said City, do hereby
certify that the whole number of members of the City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach is five; that the foregoing
resolution was passed and adopted by the affirmative vote
of more than a majority of all the members of said City
Council at a regular meeting thereof held on the 2.t h.. day
