A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HUNTINGTON BEACH ENDORSING THE ACTION OF THE
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS IN TAKING STEPS TO ACQUIRE
CERTAIN PROPERTY
The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach resolves as
follows:
1. WHEREAS, the General Services Administration of the
United States Government has declared approximately sixty-four (64)
acres of the Seal Beach Ammunition and Net Depot, located in Orange
County, State of California, to be surplus to the needs of the
United States Government and is therefore available for disposal;
and
2. WHEREAS, the property in question is mainly salt marsh
adjacent to Sunset Bay; and
3. WHEREAS, the Huntington Harbour Corporation is developing
a residential harbor on 833 acres of property immediately adjoining
said 64 acres of surplus property to the southeast; and
4. WHEREAS, the need for recreational boating in Orange
County is increasing; and
5. WHEREAS, it :appears to this City Council that said surplus
property is suited to development for recreational boating;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
Section 1. That this City Council does hereby officially
endorse the action of the Board of Supervisors in taking steps to
acquire said property.
Section 2. That this City Council recommend to the Board of
Supervisors the acquistion of this surplus property, or any similar

marsh land in this area hereafter declared to be surplus by the
General Services Administration of the United States Government.
Section 3. That the City Clerk be and is hereby directed to
forward a certified copy of this Resolution to:

State Senator John A. Hurdy, Jr.
State Assemblyman Bruce Sumner
State Assemblyman Richard T. Hanna
Orange County Board of Supervisors
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach, California, this 3rd day of April
1961.

I, PAUL C. JONES, the duly elected, qualified and acting City
Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach and ex-officio Clerk of
the City Council of said City, do hereby certify that the whole
number of members of the City Council of the City of Huntington
Beach is five; that the foregoing resolution was passed and adopted
by the affirmative vote of more than a majority of all the members
of said City Council at a regular meeting thereof held on the 3rd
day of April , 1961, by the following roil call vote:
