E EREAS, the people of the City of Huntington Beach T' did di , b y Ordinance No. 317, which 1s now codified as Section 1121 of the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code , fix the compensa- tion of members of the City Council at $50.00 per month, said ordinance having been adopted by the qualified voters of said city at a General, Municipal :election held on the 9th day of April, 1928; and WHEREAS, said compensation for the members of the City Council has not been changed, and the time necessary to be de- voted to, and the expense incidental to the work of the City Council has materially increased; and ' HEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach has not only increased tremendously in area , but also in population, and the time necessary for the City Councilmen to devote to city business has materially increased; and WHEREAS, in order to chan;o-e the coti.pensation of the City Council, it will be necessary to submit the proposition to the qualified voters of said city: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of 1. Res. No. 1561. the City of Huntington Beach that at the General Municipal Election to be held in the City of Huntington Beach on April 10, 1962, there shall be submitted to the qualified electors of said City, a proposition to adopt an ordinance amending Section 1121 of the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code to fix the compensation of each nember of the City Council of said city, in the sum of $125.00 per month. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the ordinance submitted to the voters shall read in words and figures, as follows: ORDINANCE No. AN ORDINANCE OF TF3 CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH RELATING TO THE C01,1PENSATION OF MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AIENDING SECTION 1121 OF TI-� HUiTTINGTON BEACH ORDINANCE CODE. The People of the City of Huntington Beach do ordain as follows: Section 1. That Section 1121 of the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code be and the same is hereby amended to read in words and figures, as follows: Section 1121. Compensation of City Councilmen: Each member of the City Council , regularly serv- ing in that capacity, on and after the canvass of the ballots at the General Municipal Election to be held in April, 1962, shall receive , as full compensation for the services rendered by him in Res. No. 1561 his official capacity as such, the sum of a125.00 per month. Section 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and cause the same to be published by one insertion in the Huntington Beach Nei-is, a weekly newspaper pub- lished, printed and circulated in the City of Huntington Beach, Orange County, California, and this ordinance shall take effect and be in force at the time provided by law.
