RESOLUTION NO. 1563
A RESOLUTION JF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH
CUANGING LENGTH OF PROBATIONARY
PERIOD FOR CERTAIN EMPLOYEES.
ITHEREAS, Section 1, Rule VII of Resolution No. 1348
provides that the City Council may, by Resolution, establish
a longer probationary period than the six months probationary
period established by said Resolution; and
WHEREAS, the personnel officer and the department
heads of the Safety Departments including Police, Fire and
Life Guard are of the opinion that selection, training and
evaluation of new personnel in said departments requires a
period longer than six months; and
WHEII AS, the personnel officer and the safety de-
partment heads do not intend to recommend "change in the
pay step plan as set forth in Section 2 of Resolution No.
1285 providing for Step B pay after six months service and
upon certification by his department head that his services
are satisfactory:
NOW Ti1j&ZZFORZ BE ,IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach that the probationary period
of new employees of the Police, Fire and Life "`ward Depart-
ments be established at one full year;
BE IT FURT1iZR RESOLVED that said employees shall
receive B Step pay when said employee has served six months
in Class at Step A and his Department Head has certified
that he has made satisfactory progress in his class.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
of Huntington Beach, California, at a regular meeting thereof
held on the 19ib day of February, 1962.

I, PAUL C. JONES, the duly elected, qualified and
acting City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-
officio Clerk of the City Council of said City, do hereby
certify that the whole number of members of the City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach is five; that the foregoing
resolution was passed and adopted by the affirmative vote
of more than a majority of all the members of said amity
Council at a regular meeting thereof held on the 19th day of
February, 1962, by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen: Wells, Lambert, Stewart , Gisler
NOES: Councilmen: None
