A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH PROPOSING
AND RECOMMENDING ONE ALTERNATE ROUTE
FOR THE PROPOSED ROUTE 60 FREEWAY EX-
TENDING FROM BEACH BOULEVARD (ROUTE 171)
TO A POINT 22 MILES SOUTH OF McARTHUR
BOULEVARD: (ROUTE 184) ,
WHEREAS, the State of California, Division of Highways,
has presented to the coastal cities three alternate routes
for the proposed Route 60 Freeway extending from Beach
Boulevard (Route 171) to a point 2.2 miles south of McArthur
Boulevard (Route 184) ; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington
Beach has studied the three alternate routes suggested by
the State Highway Department for such proposed Freeway; and
WHEREAS, it is the unanimous decision of the City
Council of the City of Huntington Beach that the Red Route
Line on the study map, which is the most inland route indi-
cated thereon, roughly one mile inland from the Coast, is
the most acceptable and most desirable to the City of Hunt-
ington Beach;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Huntington Beach.
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Hunt.-

ington Beach, after due consideration, unanimously recommends
to the State Highway Department that the proposed Route 60
Freeway be aligned in the general area of the Red Route Line
indicated on the Division of Highways study map.
Section 2. That the Red Route Line, if adopted, will
serve the interests of the City of Huntington Beach as a
proposed Freeway; and is more desirable because of its ser-
vice to the community and particularly, to the development
planned for the area through which it would pass,
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach, California, at a regular meeting held on
the 2nd day of April _, 1962.
