HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 1718 RESOLUTION No. 1718 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH OPPOSING ANY REGULATION WHICH WOULD REDUCE LOCAL CONTROL AND REMOVE LOCAL TAXING POWER? OVER BOATS WHEREAS, the Assembly Interim Committee on Public Utilities and Corporations has recommended enforcement of existing boat laws by the State of California and has further recommended removal of boats from personal property tax rolls, creating a State tax in lieu thereof; and WHEREAS, it is believed that local enforcement of boat laws and the levying of local assessment and collection of taxes upon boats is in the best interests of the City of Huntington Beach, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Council does hereby oppose any legislation which would take the power of enforcing boating laws away from local agencies and,further, opposes any legislation which would remove taxation powers from local control. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be furnished to the Honorable Senator John A. Murdy, Jr. , and the Honorable Assemblyman William Dannemeyer, James Whetmore and Robert Badham, and the League of California Cities . 1. Res.
