HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 1727 RESOLUTION No. 1727 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH OPPOSING THE STATE WITHHOLDING TAX WHEREAS, the State of California has been known and is presently a State governed by people; and WHEREAS, the citizens of the State of California have shown a high degree of self-responsibility; and WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach and the citizens of Huntington Beach subscribe to these principles; and WHEREAS, each individual should have the right and op- portunity to manage his own affairs; and WHEREAS, there is an indication that the State is seeking to infringe upon the rights of individuals by forcing the collection of State Income Taxes through the withholding method. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH THAT; 1. The City of Huntington Beach and citizens thereof are unalterably opposed to the withholding of State Income Taxes for the collection thereof by the State. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the Government of the State of California recognized the rights and the wishes of the 1. Res. No. 1727 people of the State of California. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That copies of this Resolu- tion be sent to the Governor of the State of California and the duly elected Representatives of Orange County, represent- ing Orange County in the State Legislature, and all Cities within the County of Orange.
