A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING
A NUISANCE TO EXIST AND PROVIDING FOR THE
ABATEMENT THEREOF.
WHEREAS, there are, growing upon the streets and side.
walks and private property within the City of Huntington Beach,
California, noxious weeds which attain and have attained such
large growth as to become a fire menace when dry, and which
have become dry and are of such growth and density as to con.
stitute a public nuisance and obstruct the public streets and
sidewalks, and which are otherwise noxious and dangerous, and
whereas there is now upon the streets, sidewalks and private
property within the City of Huntington Beach, California,
rubbish, refuse and dirt which constitutes a public nuisance and
obstructs the parkways, public streets and sidewalks;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Huntington Beach that the said condition and the
said weeds, rubbish, refuse and dirt, all and singular, do con-
stitute and are hereby declared to constitute a public nuisance;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Superintendent of
Streets shall cause notices to be conspicuously posted on or in
front of the property on or in front of which the nuisance exists,

as follows:
(a) One (1) notice to each separately owned parcel of
property of not over fifty (50) feet frontage.
(b) Not more than two (2) notices to any such parcel
of one hundred (100) feet frontage or less.
(c) Notices at not more than one hundred (100) feet
apart if the frontage of such a parcel is greater than one
hundred (100) feet,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the headings of the notices
shall be:
"NOTICE TO DESTROY WEEDS AND REMOVE RUBBISH, DEFUSE
AND DIRT" and such heading shall be in letters not
less than one (1) inch in height, and shall be substantially

Notice is hereby given that on the 1st day of April,
1963, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach
passed a resolution declaring that noxious and danger..
ous weeds were growing upon or in front of the property
on this street, and that rubbish, refuse and dirt were
upon or in front of property on this street in the City
of Huntington Beach and more particularly described in
the resolution, and that they constitute a public
nuisance which must be abated by the removal of the
weeds, rubbish, refuse and dirt, Otherwise they will
be removed and the nuisance abated by the City and the
cost of removal will be assessed upon the land from or
in front of which the weeds, rubbish, refuse and dirt
are removed and will constitute a lien upon such land
until paid. Reference is hereby made to the resolution
for further particulars. A copy of said resolution is
on file in the office of the City Clerk. All property
owners having any objections to the proposed removal
of the weeds, rubbish, refuse and dirt are hereby
notified to attend a meeting of the City Council,City
of Huntington Beach, to be held on the l th day of

April : 1963, when their objections will be
heard and given due consideration.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said notices shall be post-
ed at least five (5) days prior to the time of hearing object-
ions by the City Council,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the streets, sidewalks and
private property herein referred to are described as lying
within the city limits and boundaries of the City of Huntington
Beach as they exist as of this date.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the time and place for
hearing any and all objections or protests to the proposed re-
moval of such weeds, refuse, dirt and rubbish by the City Counc-
il of the City of Huntington Beach is hereby fixed at a regular
meeting of said City Council to be held on the 15th day of
April 9 1963, at the hour of 8 :00 o'clock P.M. or as soon
thereafter as possible of said day, at the City Hall of said
City of Huntington Beach, and at said time and place the said
City Council will hear and consider all such protests and ob-
jections.

Huntington Beach,; California, at a regular meeting ther of held

City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-officio
Clerk of the City Council of said. City, do hereby certify
that the whole number of members of the City Council of the
City of Huntington Beach is five; that the foregoing resolu-
tion was passed and adopted by the affirmative vote of more
than a majority of all the members of said City Council at
a regular meeting thereof held on the 1st day of April, 1963,
by the following vote:
