HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 1758 RESOLUTION No. 1758 A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE BRAVERY OF VOLUNTEER FIREMAN, CHARLES STEDMAN, IN SAVING THE LIFE OF MR. J. F. KENNEDY. WHEREAS, it has been called to the attention of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach, That on February 6, 1963, Charles Stedman, a volunteer fireman of the City of Huntington Beach since May 16, 19629 now attached to the Meadowlark Fire Station, did enter a trail- er at Space B. Bolsa Chica Trailer Park, and rescue Mr. J. F. Kennedy. According to witnesses, Mr. Stedman pulled Mr.Kennedy who was overcome by butene gas, from the trailer and applied mouth to mouth resuscitation. Mr. Kennedy would have perished if this fireman had not acted with speed, efficiency and dis- regard for his own safety. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Hunt- ington Beach, California, does hereby resolve: That Volunteer Fireman Charles Stedman be highly com- mended for his act of heroism, bravery and devotion to human needs beyond the scope of duty.
