HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 1763 RESOLUTION No. 1763 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH RECOMMENDING ONE ALTERNATE ROUTE FOR THE PROPOSED ROUTE 60 FREEWAY ARID INSTRUCTING COUNCIL- MAN WELCH TO PRESENT SAID RECOMMENDATION BEFORE THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS. WHEREAS, the State of California, Division of High- ways, has proposed three routes for the proposed Route 60 Freeway; and WHEREAS, the State of California, Division of High- ways has scheduled a hearing in Sacramento, California, on April 24th, 1963 to consider the various alternative routes; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach has studied the three alternate routes suggested by the State Highway Department for said proposed Freeway, and WHEREAS, it is the unanimous decision of the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that the Red Route Line on the study map, which is the most Inland route indi- cated thereon., roughly one mile inland from the Coast, is the most acceptable and most desirable to the City of Hunt- ington Beach; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that the City Council of 1. Res. No. 1763 the City of Huntington Beach, after due consideration, unani- mously recommends to the State Highway Department that the proposed Route 64 Freeway be aligned in the general area of the Red Route Line indicated on the Division of Highways study map. That the Red Route Line, if adopted, will serve the interests of the City of Huntington Beach as a proposed Freeway; and is more desirable because of its service to the community and particularly, to the development planned for the area through which it would pass. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach hereby designates Councilman Welch to attend the hearing to be held before the State of Califor- nia, Division of Highways in Sacramento, California, on March 24th, 1963 and instructs him to present the views of the City Council in recommending the Red Route Line.
