HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 1802 RESOLUTION No. 1802 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF ORANGE FOR ADDITIONAL FUNDS FOR LIFEGUARD SERVICES FOR FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 19649 AS AUTHORIZED UNDER SECTION 25551 OF THE GOVERNMENT CODE. WHEREAS, the public beach located within the City of Huntington Beach, and further described as: The coastal waters and tidelands of the Pacific Ocean and tributary bays and inlets within Orange County bounded on the South by the north- erly line of Huntington Beach State Park and on the north by the following line: Beginning at a point said point being S 890 56' 55" E 2498.57' of the southwesterly corner of Section 18 Township 50South Range 11 West S.B.B. & M. thence S 490 28, W 3277.67' to a point thence S 49 28' W to the line of ordinary high tide thence northerly along said line of ordinary high tide to its intersection with the southerly boundary of the U.S. Naval Ammunition and Net Depot at Seal Beach, is used by large numbers of residents of Orange County gen- erally who are not residents of this City; and WHEREAS, such use increases the cost of maintenance of said Beach; and WHEREAS, this City and similar cities within Orange County, together with the County of Orange and the State of California with regard to beaches under their control, have a mutual interest in exchanging emergency lifeguard ser- vices; 1. Ord. No, 1802 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED: 1. That the additional maintenance cost imposed on this City by said beach use by non-residents is the cost of additional lifeguard services, in the amount of $50000.00, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1964; and financial assist- ance by the County of Orange in that amount for said fiscal year is hereby requested under Section 25551 of the Government Code of the State of California. 2. That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute the attached Agreement with the County of Orange providing for such financial assistance and for said mutual emergency lifeguard exchange during said fiscal year.
