A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AMENDING THE.
CLASS SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION OF
POLICEMAN IN THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington
Beach has determined that it is desirable to amend the class
specifications for the position of policeman of the City of
Huntington Beach; and
WHEREAS, a study has been conducted of the duties and
responsibilities of said position and the City Council, on
the basis of said study, has determined the desirable specifi-
cations for this position; and
WHEREAS, Section 1519 of the Huntington Beach Ordinance
requires such a modification to be made by resolution duly
passed and adopted by the City Council,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTING-
-
TON BEACH hereby resolves that the class specifications for
the position of policeman of the City of Huntington Beach shall
be as follows:
Definition.
Under direction to patrol an assigned area in the enforcement
of law and order; to do related work as required.

Typical Tasks
Operate an automobile in patroling an assigned area in the
enforcement of law and order; take special assignments in
the protection of life and property; enforce traffic laws
and regulations; appear at accident scenes and crime scenes ;
assist in investigations of accidents and crimes ; issue
citations and make arrests; assist in booking and fingerprint-
ing prisoners; write reports on official actions .taken; appear
in court as arresting officer.
Employment Standards
Must have completed twelve years of school and received a high
school diploma; or completed an academic course, with a grade
of 'C' or better, at an accredited college; be between the age
of twenty-one and thirty-five with the exception that the Chief
of Police may, at his discretion, extend the maximum age one
year for every two years of municipal police experience to a
maximum of forty years of age; must have weight in proportion
to height with a minimum weight of 145 lbs. and a minimum
height of 5' 811 ; pass all written, oral, physical, medical tests,
and background investigations.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach, California, this 5th day of August, 1963.

I, PAUL C. JONES, the duly elected, qualified and
acting City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-
officio Clerk of the City Council of said City, do hereby cer-
tify that the whole number of members of the City Council of
the City of Huntington Beach is five; that the foregoing res-
olution was passed and adopted by the affirmative vote of more
than a majority of all the members of said City Council at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 5tb day of August ,
