CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH PROTESTING THE ARBITRARY FREIGHT RATES NOW APPLICABLE IN THE HUNT- INGTON BEACH AREA. WHEREAS, the arbitrary freight rates imposed upon the City of Huntington Beach and certain other areas of Orange County creates an unfair competitive situation for industrial and commercial establishments operating within the area; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach is vitally interested in the growth and prosperity of the Orange County Metropolitan Statistical Area, as well as all of Southern California, and takes an active interest in all matters which have an unfavorable impact upon the continued growth of the area; and WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach alone had a popu- lation of 50,269 in October, 1963, as determined by special federal census, as compared to 11, 492 population as of April, 1960. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach favors and urges that the motor freight rates be equalized with the rates applying to Santa Ana, Anaheim, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Orange, Tustin and other bordering cities. 1.
