A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HUNTINGTON BEACH SUBMITTING A PROPOSITION
TO THE VOTERS FOR THE ADOPTION OF AN ORDIN—
ANCE MAKING THE OFFICE OF THE C17 X IEF OF POLICE,
AN APPOINTIVE OFFICE.
The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach do
resolve as follows :
That at the Special Mfunicipal election, to be held
in the City of Huntington Beach on November 3rd, 1964, there
shall be submitted to the qualified electors of the City of
Huntington Beach, a proposition toadopt an ordinance amending
Ordinance No. 403, which has been codified as Section 1261, of
the Huntington Beach Ordinance Code to make the office of the
Chief of Police, an appointive office.
BE IT FURT-1-IE-R RESOLVED that the Ordinance so submitted
to the voters, shall be in words and figures as follows:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON
BEACH MEKING THE OFFICE OF THE CI-IIEF
OF POLICE, AN APPOINTIVE OFFICE, AND
AMENDING SECTION 1261 OF THE HUNTINGTON
BEACH ORDINANCE CODE.
The People of the City of Huntington Beach do ordain
as follows:
Section 1. That Section 1261 of the Huntington Beach
Ordinance Code be and the same is hereby amended to read in
words and figures, as follows:
Section 1261. Appointment of Chief of Police:
The Chief of Police shall be appointed by the City
Council and shall hold office at the pleasure of the
Council.
Section 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of t4-.iis ordinance and shall cause the same to be pub-
lished by one insertion in the Huntington Beach News, a weekly
newspaper, published, printed and circulated in the City of
Huntington Beach, orange County, California, and this ordinance
shall take effect and be in force, as provided by law.
BE IT FURTHER RE-SOLVED that the City Clerk be and
he is hereby instructed to cause a proposition for the adopt-
ion of said ordinance to be printed on the ballot to be used
at the Special Municipal Election to be held on November 3rd,
1964, and that said proposition is to be printed on the ballot
in substantially the following forms:

1261 OF THE HUNTINGTON BEX(M OPIDINANCE YES
CODE TO 1�,AKE ThE OFFICE OF THE CHIEF OF
POLICE OF HUNT-INGTON BEACH, AN APPOINT- NO

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
Res. No. 2011
of Huntington Beach, California, at a regular meeting held
on the 6th day of July, 1964.

I, PAUL C. JONES, the duly elected, qualifed and
acting City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-
officio Clerk of the City Council of said City, do hereby
certify that the whole number of members of the City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach is five; that the foregoing
resolution was passed and adopted by the affirmative vote of
more than a majority of all the members of said City Council
at a regular meeting thereof held on the 6, 6th day of July ,
19642 by the following vote:
