A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH SUPPORTING THE
BEQUEST OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF HOAG
MEMORIAL HOSPITAL - PRESBYTERIAN TO THE
DIVISION OF STATE HIGHWAYS TO RECONSIDER
THEIR PROPOSED ROUTE FOR A COASTAL
FREEWAY.
WHEREAS, Hoag Memorial Hospital-Presbyterian, located
on the bluff overlooking U.S. Highway 101A was opened in
1952, built by donations from the Hoag Foundation and the
citizens of Orange County Coastal area; is a 215 bed Class
A Hospital, with expansion plans for 500 beds and serves
the citizenry from Seal Beach to San Clemente; and
WHEREAS, the plan for a coastal freeway, with the nee-
essary traffic interchange, which will take part of the hos-
pital property is considered by the Board of Directors to
be grossly inconsiderate while the resulting noise, vibration
and fumes caused by the traffic interchange would be not
only a nuisance but a detriment to the health and welfare
of the patients;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Huntington Beach supports the Board of Directors
of Hoag Memorial Hospital-Presbyterian in their urgent re-
quest of the Division of State Highways for reconsideration
of the proposed route for a Coastal Freeway.

I, PAUL C. JONES, the duly elected, qualified and acting
City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-officio Clerk
of the City Council of said City, do hereby certify that the whole
number of members of the City Council of the City of Huntington
Beach is five; that the foregoing resolution was passed and adopted
by the affirmative vote of more than a majority of all the members
of said City Council at a regular meeting held on the 6th day of
July -, 1964, by the following vote:
