A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF ME
CITY OF HUNTINGTON BILICH, CALIF01RNIA,
REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF
THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO CONSOLIDATE A
SPECIAL A41UNICIPAL, ELECTION OF THE CITY
OF HUNTINGTON BEACH TO BE HELD ON NOVM-
BER 31 1964, WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL
ELECTION TO BE IHELD ON NOVE&IBER 31 1964,
PURSUANT TO SECTION 23302 OF THE ELECTIONS
CODE
WHEREILS, The City Council of the City of Huntington
Beach has called a special municipal election in the City of
Huntington Beach to be held on November 3, 1964, for the
purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of the City of
Huntington Beach propositions for making the Office of City
Attorney and the Office of Chief of Police, appointive, as
hereinafter in this resolution set forth; and
WHEREAS, it is desireable that said special municipal
election be consolidated with the statewide general election
to be held on the same date and that within the City of
Huntington Beach the precincts, polling places and election

officers of the two elections be the same, and that the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Orange canvass the returns of the
special municipal election and that sadi statewide general
election and special municipal election be held in all respects
as if there were only one klection;
NOW, THEREIPORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF T.-HE CITY OF

Section 1. That pursuant to the requirements of
Section 23302 of the 11'lections Code, the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Orange be and it hereby is requested to con-
sent and agree to the consolidation of a special municipal
election with the statewide general election on Tuesday,
the 3rd day of November, 1964, for the purpose of submitting
to the electors of the City of Huntington Beach two propo-
sitions to appear on the ballot as follows;

Section 2. Said Board of Supervisors is hereby
authorized to canvass the returns of said special municipal
election which it is hereby requested to consolidate with
said statewide general election and said election shall be
held in all respects as if there were only one election, and
only one form of ballot shall be used.

Section 3. Said Board of Supervisors is hereby
reauested to issue instructions to the County Clerk to take
any and all steps necessary for the holding of said consol-
idated election.
Section 4. The City of Huntington Beach recognizes
that additional costs will be incurred by the �;ounty by
reason of this consolidation and agrees to reimburse the
County for any such costs and the City further recognizes
the additional work occasioned for the election officials
and is willing to make such arrangements as are deemed
appropriate by the Board of Supervisors for providing addi-
tional compensatiun to the election officials.
Section 5. That the City Clerk of the City of
Huntington Beach is hereby directed to file a certified copy
of this resolution with the Board of Supervisors and the
Clerk of the County of Orange*
PASSED$ APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of
August, 1964.

I, PAUL C.- JONES, the duly elected, qualified and
acting City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach, and ex-
officio Clerk of the City Council of said City, do hereby
certify that the whole number of members of the City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach is five; that the foregoing
resolution was passed and adopted by the affirmative vote of
more tl,°an a majority of all the members of said City Council
at a regular meeting thereof held on the 3rd day of August
1964, by the following vote:
