HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2092 RESOLUTION No,2092 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH PROTESTING TO GOVERNOR EDMUND G. BROWN THE ACTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION IN ADOPTING THE 'GREEN LINE ROUTE' FOR THE COASTAL FREEWAY. WHEREAS, the State of California" is extending the Coastal Freeway through the City of Huntington Beach; and WHEREAS, the State Highway Commission has had sev-. eral plans and routes presented to them; and WHEREAS, the Commission adopted what the Department designated as the "Green Line Route, which runs adjacent to the ocean front; and WHEREAS, the State, County and City engineers resom- mended the inland route which would, from the standpoint of the taxpayers, represent a saving of approximately 17,500,000 for construction and right-of-way, plus an ad- ditional 19350000 per year cost to users; and WHEREAS, the County of Orange and the majority of cities directly affected by the routing of the Coastal Freeway were in favor of the inland route; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach hereby resolves to make this official pro- test to Governor Edmund G. Brown, Governor of the State of California of the apparent disregard of expenditure of taxpayers' money, 1. Res. No 2092 PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Huntington.
