A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH RELATING TO
FREEWAY ROUTING.
EREAS,there are and will be many freeways built
within the Southern California complex; and
WHERE, the City of Huntington Beach lies within
this contemplated web of freeways; and
WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach is directly
and indirectly affected by the route of all freeways; and
WHEREAS, the State Division of Highways do not, and
have not co-operated to the satisfaction of local Planning
bodies; and
WHEREAS, the local governing bodies,through their
Planning Departments have been unable to plan a sensible
Master plan, knowing that this plan will not be disrupted by
major freeways; and
WHEREAS, if there was a closer co-operation with the
local authorities, the local authorities could, with some
assurance plan their cities for the future growth, taking
into consideration the major freeway routes; and
WHEREAS, there have been occasions where the choice
of freeway routing has resulted in a difference of approxi-
mately $8 000,000; and
WHEREAS, the decision is made against the recommenda-
tion of all highway engineering experts, including the State's
own Highway Engineer; and

WHEREAS, this appears to be a flagrant waste of the
taxpayer's money, and
WHEREAS, the United States Government does, In fact
aid in construction, financing the greater portion of the
freeway;
NOW THEREFORE,, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Hunt.
ington Beach respectfully requests the United States Govern-
ment to investigate the freeway routing system here In
Southern California.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
of Huntington Beach, California, at a regular meeting held on
the &t-h day of January 9 1965-

at a regular meeting thereof held on the 4th day of January
1964.
