HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2129 RESOLUTION No. 2129 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH RECOMMENDING THE REACTIVATION OF THE "BEACERO PROGRAM". WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach believes that American citizens should have prior em- ployment opportunities where agricultural workers are need•, ed; and WHEREAS, we have found that in our city some of these people are- of an undesirable type; and WHEREAS, agriculture is the number one economic activ- ity of this state and, an important industry in the City of Huntington Beach, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach urges that the use of Mexican agricultural workers or the so-called "Bracero Program" be reactivated so that the agricultural harvest may be efficiently pursued; NOW, THEREFORE* BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach that the Council urges that the use of Mexican agricultural workers, or the so-called "Bracero Program" be reactivated so that the agricultural harvest may be efficiently pursued; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Senators Thomas Kuchel and George Murphy and to Congressman Richard T. Hanna and Governor Edmund D. Brown. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of 1. Res.
