HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2154 RESOLUTION N0.2154 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON DEACH OPPOSING AB 1799• WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach is located on the coast line of the State of California; and WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach has in the past been directly involved with surfing; and WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach has sponsored the U. S. Surfing Championships; and WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach, through their Lifeguard Department, has controlled surfing along the coast line within the city's jurisdiction; and WHEREAS, the city has never encountered any difficulty in controlling the surfing within its jurisdiction; and WHEREAS, the city feels that such control should re- main with the local agencies; and WHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach believes that home rule should always be adhered to whenever possible. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Hunt- ington Beach hereby resolves that it is emphatically opposed to AB 1799, since it is unnecessary.
