HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2169 RESOLUTION NO. 2169 A RESOLUTION OF INTENTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH TO CALL A SPECIAL ELECTION ON AUGUST 10, 1965, ON A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE CITY CHARTER. WHEREAS, a petition was filed with the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach on March 9, 1965, containing 3968 signatures requesting submission to the voters of said City an amendment to the City Charter of said City, adding and amending certain sections thereof; and WHEREAS, such petition has been certified to the City Council by the City Clerk as being sufficient according to the requirement of Section 8 of Article XI of the Constitution of the State of California under which such proposed amendment shall be processed. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach, California, does hereby resolve, determine, direct and order as follows: Section 1. That an election be held on August 10, 1965, in the City of Huntington Beach for the purpose of submitting to the voters of said City said proposed amendment to the City Charter of said City. Section 2. The City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach is hereby directed to take such steps as are necessary under the Elections Code and the Constitution of the State of California to prepare for such election set forth in Section 1 of this Resolution. 1. RES . NO. 2169 Section 3 . The City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach is hereby directed to cause such proposed amendment to the City Charter of said City to be published, and copies thereof mailed to each of the qualified electors of said City of Huntington Beach at a date not more than sixty nor less then forty days prior to August 10, 1965; and from the date of publication of such Charter amendment to the date of election, said City Clerk is directed to publish a notice of such. Charter amendment in the official newspaper and to inform the public that copies of the proposed amendment may be had in his office, all in accordance with Section 8 of Article XI of the Constitution of the State of California . Section 4. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately. Section 5 . Resolution No. 2160 adopted on the 19th day of April, 1965, is hereby repealed.
