HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2189 RESOLUTION No. 2189 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH OPPOSING SB 995 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach believes that its Lifeguard and Fire Departments are well qualified to protect its citizens and residents from imminent hazards of fire and explosives which may be prev- alent in tideland oil exploration; and WHEREAS, SB 995 would preempt the field for the State of California and place in the State Fire Marshal sole power to regulate the conditions , methods and manner by which exploration for, protection and development of oil and gas from such submerged lands underlying such navigable waters may be conducted. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Hunting- ton Beach go on record as vigorously opposing SB 995, and that the City Clerk be and he is hereby directed to send copies of this ordinance to Governor .Edmund M. Brown and all State representatives from the County of Orange , includ- ing the members of the Senate Committee on Governmental Ef- ficiency. adjourned PASSED and ADOPTED at a regular/meeting held on the 4th day of June 1965.
