HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2195 RESOLUTION NO. 2195 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH SUPPORTING THE ENACTMENT OF ASSEMBLY BILL NO, 1150 ES- TABLISHING THE RIGHT OF MUNICIPALITIES TO REQUIRE RESIDENTIAL LAND DEVELOPERS TO EITHER DONATE LAND FOR PARKS OR PAY A FEE FOR SAME. WHEREAS, there has been introduced and passed by the California State Assembly Bill No. 1150 which would enable mun- icipal governments to assess land developers for fees to be used for parks, and or require dedication of land for such purposes, and WHEREAS, this Bill if enacted would alleviate a great financial burden upon those cities which are undergoing a population explosion, and WHEREAS, it appears to be equitable to require those that are directly benefiting from the population explosion to contribute to their share of this burden upon the cities in furnishing adequate parks for recreation. NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNT- INGTON BEACH DOES HEREBY RESOLVE: The City is in favor of the enactment of AB 1150, and urges the Senate of the State of California to pass same. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this Resolution be sent to Senate Committee on Municipal and County Government, and Senator John J. Schmitz. Res.
