A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH AUTHORIZING
FILING OF APPLICATION FOR GRANT TO AC-
QUIRE OPEN-SPACE LAND.
WHEREAS, Title VII of the Housing Act of 1961 pro-
vides for the making of grants by the Housing and Home Fi-
nance Administrator to States and local public bodies to as-
sist them in the acquisition of permanent interests in land
for open-space purposes where such acquisition is deemed es-
sential to the proper long-range development and welfare of
urban areas in accordance with plans for the allocation of
land to such purposes; and
IiHEREAS, the City of Huntington Beach desires to acquire
fee simple estate to certain land known as Park Sites 4. 13,
and 22, which land, in accordance with the Interim Guide To
The Selection of Park and Playground Sites approved by the
City Council, is to be held and used for permanent open-space
land as park and recreational uses ; and
WHEREAS, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and
regulations of the Housing and Home Finance Agency effectuat---*
ing that Title, provide that no person shall be discriminated
against because of race, color, or national origin in the
use of the land proposed to be acquired; and
That the United States of America and the Housing and
Home Finance Administrator be, and they hereby are, assured.
of full compliance by the City of Huntington Beach with regu-

lations of the Housing and Home Finance Agency effectuating
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
WHEREAS, it is estimated that the total consideration
to be paid for the acquisition of said, interests will be
$112,150- 00.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH, as follows :
1. That an application be made to the Housing and Home
Finance Agency for a ._;rant in an amount authorized by Title
VII of the Housing Act of 1961, which amount is presently
estimated to be $22,430-00, and. that the City of Huntington
Beach will pay the balance of the consideration for the
acquisition of such interests and the total of all related
costs from other funds available to it.
2. That the Iviayor is hereby authorized and directed
to execute and file such application with the Housing and
Home Finance Agency, to provide additional information and
to furnish such documents as may be recuired by said Agency,
to execute such contracts as are required by said Agency, and
to act as the authorized correspondent of the City of Hunt-
ington Beach.
3. That the proposed acquisition is in accordance with
the Interim Guide To The Selection of Park and Playground
Sites approved by the City Council for the preservation of
permanent open-space land, and that, should said grant be
made, the City of Huntington Beach will retain said land for
the uses designated in said application and approved by the
Housing and Home C) Finance Agency.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Huntington Beach, California, at a regular meeting held on
the 2nd day of August 1965.
