A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH SUPPORTING THE
LOCATION AND CO�,TSTRUCTION OF THE OFFSHORE
DESALINIZATION PLANT, AS RECOMMENDED BY
THE ENGINEERS OF THE BECHTEL CORPORATION
WHEREAS, the U. S. Corps of Army Engineers has studied
the eventual location of a nuclear desalinization plant along
the Pacific Coast; and
WHEREAS, the site to be selected for the installation
of such desalinization plant is of the utmost importance to
the City of Huntington Beach,
NOW2 THEREFORE, BE IT. ?RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Huntington Beach that it is on record in fully
supporting the location an.d. construction of the offshore desal-
inization plant on an island to be constructed off the Pac-
ific Coast in the vicinity of Sunset Beach, as recommended by
the Engineers of the Bechtel Corporation, to be the most
suitable and most economical location for said project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of Huntington Beach will lend to this project, whatever sup-
port is required, which is within their power so to do.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City
of Huntington Beach, following the riassage of this resolution,
is hereby directed to send a copy thereof to the U.S, Corps
of Army Engineers, U.S. Senator George Murphy, Senator Thomas
H. Kuchel, Representative Richard T. Hanna, State Senator John
J. Schmitz and Assemblymen James E. Wetmore, 'Robert E. Badham

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
of Huntington peach, California, this 2nd day of August,1965.

I, FAUL C. JONES, the duly elected, qualified
and acting City Clerk of the City of Huntington Beach, and
exofficio Clerk of the City Council of said City do hereby
certify that the whole number of members of said City Council
of the City of Huntington Beach is five; that the foregoing
resolution was passed and adopted by the affirmative vote
of more than a majority of all the members of said City
Council at a regular meeting thereof held on the 2nd day
of August , 1965.
