HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council - 2226 RESOLUTION No. 2226 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH SUPPORTING ASSEMBLY JOINT RESOLUTION N0.38- RELATIV'E TO FUNDS FOR TAX RELIEF AND ALCOHOLIC REHABILITATION. WHEREAS, the Assembly and Senate of the State of California have jointly passed Resolution No.38 relative to funds for tax relief and alcoholic rehabilitation; and WHEREAS, the resolution provides that the Congress of the United States is requested to enact legislation for the retention of 5% of the alcoholic beverage tax revenue by the states of origin for the purpose of alleviating the burden of the taxpayers of the states and to permit expanded and more vigorous programs of alcohol education and prevent- ion and alcoholic rehabilitation, provided that the states which are recipients of this tax relief shall maintain a program of education and alcoholic rehabilitation and that the proceeds from such tax relief shall be divided In each state on an equitable and proportionate basis among the state, county and city governments; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Huntington Beach is in full sympathy and accord with the spirit of this resolution, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Hunt- ington Beach go on record as being- favorable to said joint 1. Res. No. 2226 resolution and that the City Clerk be directed to transmit a copy of this resolution to the President of the United States , the President pro Tempore of the Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives , to Congressman Richard T. Hanna, to Senator Thomas H. Kuchel , to Senator George Murphy, to Governor Edmund G. Brown, and to each member of the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange , California.
